15 Games That BUTCHERED Their Potential

Sadly, gaming audiences are no strangers to disappointing games- games that have plenty of promise, much of which shines through pre-launch, and even in the games themselves from time to time, but ultimately ends up getting overshadowed by a string of bad decisions by the developers.

Here, we're going to take a look at a few such games that ended up squandering their potential.

I still believe Rage 2 is a solid game. It's actually a more engaging game than the last few Halo games

I liked rage 2, liked the concept of rangers, the arenas were fun to fight in. But yea the story was non existent and lots of dead space in the open world

Mafia 3 has a GREAT beginning and a GREAT ending. The problem is the LONG middle half is VERY boring and did I mention LONG.
Most technical problems/issues have since been patched on the pc version.

I appreciate playing a 7/10 game between triple A releases.

I’m honestly surprised anthem is not on this list. We all know the shit storm that game ended up going through but if it was given more time it could’ve been something absolutely spectacular.

Another one would be Agents of Mayhem. A Saints Row spin-off and kinda a sequel to Gat out of Hell in the style of saturday morning cartoons like G.I. Joe with a cast of fun characters that all played differently. Could have been a great game if it weren't riddled with bugs and the missions were very repetitive. It was definitely rushed out too soon.

I think back4blood should be on this list. It had the staff of left4dead on it and couldn’t find its own identity. A real pity.

I really enjoyed Mafia 3. At the time, we played from a narrative perspective that we don't get to see too often. The characters and atmosphere made the game engaging enough finish. In fact, this video makes me wanna play it again.

For me Order 1886 had incredible potential. I looked very much forward to the release, the setting seemed super interesting and the graphics were mind blowing for the time (still looks great nowadays).
In the end it was more or less just a 6 hour tech demo filled with QTEs and a boring story. Could have easily become another huge franchise for Sony if they had put more care into gameplay instead of graphics...

Mafia 3 was a amazing game and story was awesome the gameplay was good just a lil disappointed on the moves of attacking but other then that its a great game!!!

I think the one franchise that had potential was watch dogs. They never really reached a peak with you being a hacker

What drew me into Rage 1 is that it both looked like the original concept of Borderlands, but also very, very mad max (which technically was original Borderlands before the comments say it). But what drew me out is that it got too neon and too quirky with the sequel in the marketing. It didnt feel like the original at all. Plus I think it got drowned out by the fact that Borderlands 3 and Doom Eternal were also coming out that year

I actually enjoyed Rage 2, this Doom meets Mad Max (haven´t played first game), sure story was short, but i did had fun in game´s world.
Enjoyed Crackdown 3 as well, did went into the game for its single player so was not phased by devs not delivering on MP´s promises

Dead Rising 4, Mafia 3, Resident Evil 6, and Rage 2 are ALL AWESOME AF, TRAAASH AF LIST

RAGE 2 was good it was fun the thing that disappointed me was the last boss like wtf. Worse boss fight ever 😂
Dead rising 4 I actually enjoyed it the only thing I hated was the ending and not only that you had to buy the ending dlc to find out what happened to Frank.

They thought avengers was a good idea because Marvel Heroes Omega was the best Marvel, multiplayer, looter ever! It was Marvel themed Diablo 3... Gazillion will never be forgotten. And my Platinum tropy will always be 1 trophy away...
