Actually people were mad because it was quite clear that the anaconda wanted absolutely nothing to do with him. I own anacondas and there has never been one documented verified case of an anaconda killing someone ever. Let alone eating them. There have been a couple women in a small man that were eaten by reticulated pythons but never an anaconda. They harassed the snake into panic biting him and constricting him out of self-defense. The snake was way too small to eat him and had absolutely no interest in doing anything but protecting itself. People were pissed because it was nothing but a money grab that most people with half a brain knew wasn't going to work and ended up causing stress and abuse to these snake
