I had an issue with my car not wanting to change gears. Brought it in to a mechanic and he changed out one vacuum hose and told me to come back when I had real problems. I used him for years.

Thankfully, the VW dealership identified a disconnected vacuum line in my Jetta and reconnected it for free. He showed me how to check it in the future.

I had a hose dislodged three times after an oil change at my mechanics shop. It made the car stall out. I thought may have been a mistake but after the third time I found a new mechanic.

What a Wise Mechanic Thankyou Sincerely

If they put these crooked mechanics in jail for a while, they'd stop pulling vacuum lines off. Trade crime is so prevalent and never seems to get what it deserves.

You can take a carb cleaner and spray around the hoses IF RPM goes up found your problem

I gotta be honest as a guy used to work in shops that just sounds like a good way to piss a bunch of people off and run away all your business, so you never make any money ever.

I had this exact problem happen to me before. Looked under the hood and saw one of them had come loose after servicing. Mechanic must have snagged on it while pulling the air box off. Was easy to have it popped back into place though.

That kind of stuff is so messed up...I've been a locksmith for 20 years and I would NEVER pull any crap like that...I am a Christian and help people as much as I can. I have to make money but I can't tell you how many times I've done things for free.

I think the last time I took my car to the mechanic for some annoying front end work, they were gonna charge me an arm and leg so I told them, "Nah, thanks, I'll just do it myself" They got all butthurt at me over the phone. I picked it up and got home and noticed some things were missing. Started getting evap codes. I think they sabotaged my car before I picked it up

A mechanic told a lady friend that the rubber hoses on a car are only good for about 10 years and then they need replacing even the ones in the dash and that would involve removing the dash. Quoted $1.700. After she told him she had a Visa card with a $2.000 limit.

Those are not “mechanics” they are simply shyster parts replacers that have no idea how the parts they replace actually work.

Chevy Vega and Ford Pinto used coolant to heat them. The coolant also ran through the heater core with a diverter flap to exhaust the hot air to under the car. I have seen one of each with the heater core inlet crushed so there was no hot coolant through the carb and choke so that the choke would never open. Then the ladies would have to return to the mechanic for further repairs. The mechanic would then use a swage tool to reopen the heater core inlet while replacing the carb which did not need replacing.
