We have an aluminum fishing boat, and I wanted to cool things off in the summer by installing a removable shade canopy, like a Bimini (pronounced "Bim-i-knee") canvas roof top. In this DIY boat video, I'll show you step by step how to assemble, take measurements, and install a new bimini top (a 3-bow bimini cover I bought on Amazon), whether it's a boat sun shade on your pontoon, jon boat, or bass boat. It's pretty easy setting up a cheap bimini top yourself and cover yourself for the summer sun!

At 9:57 in the video I see you are attaching the back pole. Can this pole be shortened and a new hole drilled for what attaches it to the base hinge point? ... or is it popriveted and you can't shorten it? My reason for asking is that it would need to be shortened to attached to my roof frame on my cat.
