How to Close a Frozen Game when Alt-f4 and the Task Manager don't work

For whatever reason, a lot of frozen games don't honor alt-f4, and they aggressively retake control of your screen when you try to switch to other programs or close it via pressing the Windows (⊞) key. In the past, you'd have to restart your computer to escape, but I've found that every frozen game can be bypassed with this trick. Hope it helps!

Small tip as well: You can change the option on your task manager to appear over everything else. That way you can safely use it using ctrl + alt + delete as well. Personally feel this should be a feature enabled by default otherwise it defeats the purpose of using task manager to stop unresponsive programs and audit a system.

you’re a genius! on windows 11 i hit ‘start tab’ and was able to get my mouse to function, then moved the frozen game to a new desktop, from the first desktop now the mouse works and i’m able to force quit the game in task manager! thank you, thank you kind sir!

Just hit windows-tab. It's the same process but it saves a lotta steps. Sometimes you can't even get the windows menu open but windows+tab works.

Doesn't work for me when I open task manager on the second desktop it just takes me back to the game and then task manager isn't there
