I must make this clear. HE, Zhou Sheng, is NOT imitating a female voice. This is his most natural and comfortable voice to sing. He is also a opera (bel canto) singer by training. His unique talent was not just pure talent alone but also through a lot of hard work, honing his singing skill in his early years of harsh opera training. This dude has my full respect!!

I'd be honest, I didn't even play HI3. I just found this song because I like to hear any good game OST on youtube and this what was recommended for me. Hesitated at first, now this is the first game OST that growing on me even when I'm not playing them. The emotion and stories are well presented in this song, and it's not a joke to shed a tear after listening for a while. The music is top-notch, it has the progression across all verse and interlude. The overtone part was perfect. The singer is just flawless. Angelic. Can't say anything much more than that. As an audiophile that loves to play games myself, it always a treat to find some games that put so much effort into their opening BGM, character OST, Arc OST. Because that truly helps to immerse in their character or world-building.

Once again, well done Mihoyo. You have convinced me to download your game and enjoy the story that's about to unfold.

I am seeing some misunderstanding in the comments so I would like to clarify :)

Zhou Shen's voice is natural. He does not fake a 'female voice'. The reason why his voice may sound 'feminine' to some people is because it did not deepen too much during puberty. Actually, the more you listen to his songs, the more you will realize his voice is more akin to that of a child than that of a woman.


And just as I said in the previous paragraph, it is not as if his voice didn't deepen at all during puberty. It did, but to a much lesser extent compared to other males. So obviously, he still has the timbre of a (teenage) male, which is especially easy to observe when he sings deeper notes. He sounds like a shonen protag in the lower end of his vocal range, while sounding like a siren in the higher end.

This versatility results in a running joke among some fans that whoever hires him to sing theme songs saves lots of money as he completes both the male and female parts XD
