This really helped me understand! Also, I love that when we fast for medical reasons we can think of it as fasting for the Lord! I should then spend time in prayer rather than my normal grumpiness before a procedure!😄

AHH, fasting now in April 2020 from the Lords Supper. He has REALLY "Laid it on us"! "God is greater than my stomach", i need to put that one on my refrigerator as I attempt to recognize that food is and has been an idol for me for a very long time. I am fasting during this years Lenten season in order to recognize this.

Fasting has become a part of my every day life, not just for spiritual reasons. I fast mainly because it has helped me health wise to heal my body. On Sundays I usually am always fasting before I partake of the Lord's Supper. My fasting window is usually 18 to 24 hours. I am fasting now for both spiritual and health reasons.

I was a little disappointed that this was more 'good advice-esk', Rabi-ish, and did not grapple with understanding the texts themselves. I'd appreciate you coming back to pastor mode and show us Jesus in these texts as the Bread, and show us our dying with Him through what "The Lord lays on us". Jus sayin. I do love you pastor; stay Lutheran, my friend! ;-)
