To charge an EV, from a fast charge EV station for 373 kw would be $180, and not $57! You should not compare charging from home, with charging at a gas station. These are not equivalents. Charging from home is just not possible for the majority of people.
Average wh per mile for EV seems to be around 300, so your range would be 1240 miles. A typical gas vehicle at 25mpg would have a range of 1500 miles with the amount of gas in your calculation.
Also, the gas vehicle would not be hanging around at electric charge stations waiting for one that works and is available. So you have to value lost hours with an EV, probably with the example you mentioned 90-120 minutes. Gas charge time of average 8 minutes, 32 minutes for the 1240 miles. How much do you value your time? If you have a family in the car, how much fun will this be, waiting in line for a free charge station so that you don't miss your spot, then waiting up to 1 hour to charge!

Lets look at cost of gas. the AAA states average gas price is $3.4 per gallon, or with an average of 25 miles per gallon, for 1240 miles, that would cost $140! Note this is $40 lower that EV charging at a charge station, which is a more accurate comparison than charging from home.

Average cost to replace an EV battery pack is around $40, 000 so you can expect your EV car to have a very low resale value, if you can sell it at all.

Typical gas vehicles will do round 400, 000 miles, without replacing the engine. Cost typically $5, 000 if you decided to keep the vehicle.

Typical EV batteries will do from 100, 000 to 150, 000 miles, replacement costs then $10, 000 to $30, 000 varies by manufacturer, and range also varies I will take an average of $20, 000. So for the average EV to cover the same mileage as a gas vehicle, you would need to replace the batteries 2 times if we use the more generous 150, 000 per battery. total of $40, 000!

So now you can buy an EV, which is more expensive than a gas car, then add an additional $40, 000 for replacement batteries, that's assuming that they don't get more expensive over time. When no change of the gas car engine is required!

Now lets look at a hybrid? I have a camry hybrid, and I just replaced the battery, did this myself so saved labor costs, cost came to $2, 600.

I average 40 mpg on my camry.

So for 1240 miles range, my gas cost would be $105!

A savings of approx $80 compared with charging your EV at charge stations, and I have fewer refill stops than a gas vehicle, or EV, so no fed up children in the car!

The battery will last longer because it is used less than an EV vehicle, so you are looking at 150, 000 miles to 200, 000 miles. So 1 battery replacement to reach 400, 000 miles, the life of the gas car. But, the brakes last longer than the gas vehicle, so savings there.

Overall, unless you have unlimited finances, and don't mind taking the massive loss on your EV vehicle when you come to sell it, a Hybrid is the best value overall. And best for the planet, and more practical, requiring fewer fill ups. I get about 500 miles per tank, and uses the cheapest gas!

Which vehicle would you buy!!!

Happy children, happy wife, happy life!

Have you calculated using the eGallon? eGallon ($/gal) = FE (fuel economy) * EC (electricity consumption) * EP (electricity price)

so if you save 150 per month - let's say 2000 per year

if you will drive your tesla S for 10 years (which you most likely will not) you will save 20k

tesla s costs 95k+

for 75k you can buy almost ANY other gas car and "save" money instantly.

These savings only apply if someone is in the market and looking to choose a Tesla/EV vs a comparable gas engine car from another make.

Let’s say the AVERAGE family buys an AVERAGE good used car for $30K saving $30K by NOT buying overpriced Tesla: $30K / $170 monthly savings = 176 months = 14.7 years to offset price of Tesla. If gas doubles, it’s still 7+ years. That’s why cheap oil is the best solution and not EV.

You’re saying 1 fill up of 15 gallons is a monthly gas expense. I spend $150 a week on gas

Gas because where I live I'd have to go a hour away to charge a Tesla

But what happens when the majority of people use electric instead of gas? That’s right electric goes up because of demand. There’s a higher demand for gas meaning higher cost

No thanks. In 8 years you will have a 20k battery replacement bill.
