My GP's simple and cheap hydration drink: take 1/2 liter natural water at room temp, add one teaspoon of salt and one teaspoon of sugar. Dissolve and cool it before drinking. Perfect for golfers in summer.

As an athlete, my experience has been that pre-hydration with water with dissolved Nuun tablets with a blend of electrolytes really helps me from getting cramps in high temperatures and low humidity. I'll also take potassium and magnesium supplements for long days in the heat. I don't cramp during or after.

Honestly a better option that helps me is drinking water as main hydration source then homemade fruit juices with mineral water mixed in to keep the sugar content lower. Also I tend to ustilize whole milk or 2% reduced fat milk. And the last drink would be for after my workout is to brew natural herbal teas and then leave in the fridge for at least 2 hours or so. Then drink it with a glass of ice. Or you could even have the herbal tea hot. These options are much healthier. And yes when I was younger I use drink a lot of Gatorade and drinks that are vad for you, but as I am now older I don't drink any soda sweet tea, and the hydration drinks I keep at a minimum and spread out when I drink them if I have to have a change of pace for a little bit.

Thank you for answering that burning question that has puzzled me 🤔 for a long time. I am now confident that I do not need energy drinks for my five-minutes-per-day exercise regimen. Maybe it's not even five. Maybe two? Thanks Docs! I enjoy your videos even if they don't apply to me 😅

I used to know some air crew people. They recommended a powdered product (to be mixed with water) which contained electrolytes because flying often is very dehydrating. Compact to carry - multiple sachets in a small box, so next time I bought some at the airport before boarding. Or tried to. I asked for the product and the woman behind the counter said VERY LOUD - "DO YOU HAVE DIARRHEA?" I said "No, I just want to.." "DO YOU HAVE DIARRHEA?" Don't drink alcohol while flying 'cause it dehydrates you, just lots of water. And whatever you do DON'T GET DIARRHEA.

I'm an avid mountain biker with rides lasting 2-5 hours. My go to hydration mix is 1 fresh squeezed lemon with Himalayan sea salt and honey to taste, diluted in one liter of water.

Ah, my Son's motto, "Do watcha gotta do"! 😂. TY for this! When I lived in the desert heat in Arizona I learned I needed the electrolytes. They're are some pretty good brands of water out that keeps you hydrated wo sugars. Stay Well Doc's!!

Water is my primary source of hydration, but I must filter it.
I can smell the Clorine and God knows what other additives added in my tap water, it tastes nasty. So I installed a PUR filter to my faucet and use a water pitcher with a filter for cold water, in my refrigerator. How does ICE WATER affect hydration?
As always great info from great guys who are DRS.

Thanks for his video. Water is king. I've always been a person who sweats both easily and profusely. In 80 degree temperatures something as simple mowing a lawn for 40-60 minutes completely soaks everything I am wearing. If it's 90, it takes about 15 minutes.

I drink red powerade every once in a while, like on days of I am working longer shifts at work, or when I am out hiking or kayaking.
But I do have issues with heart flutters and frequent vasovagal episodes (which I now have a service dog for).
My doc said the Powerade is good for the extra electrolytes for me.

Some people say energy drinks are good for diarrhea, not to stop it but to help rehydrate... is that true? Thanks in advance.

I'm a big fan of water, too! I consider these kinds of drinks to almost be desserts or treats! Thanks for another great video ♥

The cautionary tales; good for us all. My friend at football practice, 1964, called our water break "nature's nectar" and four years later a partially frozen canteen out on perimeter was just that good for sips all night long. Drinking or sipping before thirst becomes a nag, that's what I'm hearing is the key. At 75, my miles + weights workouts are non-sitting "happy hours" with iced down mix of G-aid and raspberry green tea. Salute' and many Thanks.

Oke, that’s good to hear . Thanks for the item. Is it also possible for you to make an item about all those sportsfood supplements? Would be usefull.

It does not hydrate you. Its basically water with sugar in it, I know it says there is 2g of sugar in it but there are also sweeteners in it which has different types of sugar such as sacurine and canderene which is over 500 times worse than actual sugar

I'd say one of the best examples of the average working man that actually needs the electrolytes, other than pure athletes, are folks like Amazon delivery guys, UPS drivers, FedEx guys, etc. Especially here in the south. Sweating up a storm, can't stay cool long enough, hiking 50lb (or more) packages up several flights of stairs a million times a day, keeping a good walking pace in the process. It's tough and arduous work and very much physically demanding.

I won’t drink water, only hydration drinks. Is it better than nothing? I’ve been challenging myself to 1- 16 oz bottle a day of straight water. So far doing okay on that but these really help me!
