It's that is a lost magic.

if we look at this from the viewpoint of Frieren. Fern already knows the most important defensive and offensive spell and uses both of them exactly as needed and exactly as expected. But Laundry though? Laundry takes hours back in those days. LOTS of time wasted just cleaning clothes. And humans have very short lifespans. So Fern saving so much time on such a common but time consuming task is actually probably really brilliant in Frieren's eyes as by this point she really appreciates Humans and understands how *SHORT* their lifespans are.
