Managing Wildfires with Prescribed Fire | Your Story

'Fighting fire with fire,' isn't just an expression. It's also an effective management tool for preventing wildfires. These prescribed fires are carefully, controlled burns that are preemptively set in places where wildfires could naturally occur. We learned more about the practice from the Florida Forest Service and the Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department, who regularly partner together to handle prescribed burns for South Florida.
