Prescribed Burn: Land Management Through Controlled Fire | Conservation Education

All forest fires are NOT created equal. A prescribed burn, or controlled fire, is a powerful land management tool used by forest services workers and private land owners that mimics a natural ecological process and creates improved conditions for wildlife, their habitats, and for people. For fire-adapted ecosystems, it's essential.

We have touched on the subject in several episodes, but have never fully drilled down and featured a burn itself until now. And YES, the smoke turned on Peter midway through the take. Mistakes were made. 😅

Like this brief description. Fires are essential in most ecosystems. Wildfires are prevented from spreading far now, and excess debris can build. Climate change and lack of burns out west have lead to deadly historic fires. Prescribed burns actually occur all over the country in many national parks and private lands to keep nature healthy. Thanks for the video! 👍
