You definitely know this but for the viewers, that fireline is fine for leaves because of fuel model he is burning (oak leaves). Once youre getting into grasses that have larger flamelengths you will need larger breaks. A "safer" bet is 1.5× the expected flamelength. This is to mitigate spot fires. Im excited to see you're future videos on this experiment.

Note with the controlling fire thing: I think it really depends where you are. I grew up in rural CA, and have moved to upstate NY and the humidity in the air makes a huge difference! So don't expect it to be that easy to control fires

went to a 170 acre brush fire last week in the fire department due to someone not cutting a proper line. In fact, I'd say 90 percent of our brush fires start by a home owner not understanding fire control. Please use extreme caution when attempting to control burn. And have fun! Controlled burns are a really good way to have fun and do some good for the life living in the woods.

For all the naysayers in the comments, this guy is a literal professional when it comes to controlled burns. We have been so conditioned to think of fire as a bad thing that it's actively making wildfires bigger, hotter, and more deadly. Many North American plants need fire to help them germinate. we need better forest management, and that includes many controlled burns.

Having lots of experience with controlled burns I'd always recommend a big fire break with the no burn side pre dowsed with water just in case. Had 2 controlled burns that ended up being not so controlled 😅.
