This is a message from Japan. This live show was broadcast on TV in Japan on September 19, 1983, the following year. It was an edited version, but during prime time, it was a groundbreaking program, sponsored solely by SONY at the time. As a child, I was fascinated by it, and I still remember being thrilled to reunite with it now. Thank you very much.

How come nobody ever mentions what an amazingly great singer Billy is, with outstanding breath control, perfect pitch, a true song stylist who matches his style to the meaning.

Grew up on Long Island. There's so much about his music that you "get" when you've been raised in the culture. Great memories!

No offense to the current drummer, but I used to love watching Liberty drum.

Liberty DeVito on drums is a monster here, this guy is so great and Billy is in obvious top form here. This is an outstanding concert.

Billy is, by far, the best performer I've seen in my life.

Never understood the point of watching live performances until today. The live performances tend to sound rough and not as good as the recordings. Billy’s vocals are AMAZING, recorded or live

I truly think that most people do not realize how incredible of a performer Billy Joel is, especially back in his prime. I cannot think of another person on this planet that can sing, play piano, harmonica, and guitar, and write songs all at a masterful, almost virtuoso-type level. I believe he's one of the most well-rounded, gifted, and incredible people to ever grace a stage. Absolutely God-given talent!

If I had a Time Machine, I would use it to go back in time to go to this concert! Nothing else.

This was incredible to watch,
Billy was 33 here. This was also in the middle of The Islanders Stanley Cup Dynasty (that was their home arena)

Billy Joel is always very modest about his piano playing and singing…… he shouldn’t be. 😆

Amazing musicianship from all on stage. Truly amazing concert.

'Allentown' is so brilliant... its rhythm is so catchy, the strumming piano is unique. 'The Stranger's funky feel is irresistible. 'Goodnight Saigon' is heartbreaking. 'Movin' Out''s Supertramp-like structure turns me on. 'Pressure's tension is tough. 'Sometimes a Fantasy' is tight and straight. 'Big Shot' is dramatically rock. 'Just the Way You Are' sends me straight to 1978.
In one word, I love 'im.

Billy Joel at the absolute PRIME of his career. Liberty on the drums this was his premium band

This night Billy was in fire and so was his band. Doug, Dave, and Russel really had their own sound with Liberty as the backbone of the band.

I was there...also there in 2017 for the first concert after the reopening. Billy always played LI with sold-out crowds.

It's been said a hundred times, but this band is absolute fire. No one can play these songs like these guys. Magical.
