This new recruit is spearing fish from the pond. A villager happens to see him and asks, “As a soldier, how can you steal those fish?” The recruit quickly explained that he was in the middle of wilderness survival training. The villager felt really bad about it—especially seeing how rough the recruit looked. So, he pulled out some canned food from his bag. He was worried that if the soldier ate the raw fish, it might make him sick. Seeing the canned food, the recruit couldn’t help but swallow his saliva… but he politely turned down the villager’s offer. The reason? He remembered his instructor’s warning: if any recruit accepts help from someone during training, they’d be kicked out of the program.
