3 ounces of salt to 1 gallon of water = 85.049 grams of salt to 3.785 liters of water. That is 22.47g of salt to 1 liter of water. Im not going to give in spoons and cups because of accuracy sake but easiest way is to add 2 tablespoon of table salt to 1 liter of water. By the way, I heard that the maker of this vid passed away in 2019, so please be respectful with your comments. This vid has helped a lot of people. My condolonces to his family, may all of you stay strong. God bless.

Add your salt to the water, stir until dissolved, pour into a large bowl and then add the chicken.

Just what I was looking for……a simple brine…….thank you very much

A true brine is 1 cup salt, 1 cup sugar to one gal of water. 1 hr per pound weight of protein, I suggest way longer and you don’t have to season at all. Smoke, or bake to desired Results, crispy skin when baking is amazing.

Another tip for you cooks out there. If you have a large empty Pickle jar, you can use the pickle juice as a perfect brine. It is strong so you only need about 2-3 hours in the fridge with it.

I find that if I heat (not boil) the water in a sauce pan and dissolve the salt (and sugar sometimes) in the heated water (than cool) that it makes the chicken absorb the brine better. I used to brine by adding salt to cold water over the meat but it never tasted as good as when I got cooked chicken from stores and restaurants but now my brined meats are just as good since I started doing that. Not sure why or how they are different but give it a try and see if it makes any difference to you.

Thank you for sharing your brine recipe. It was just what I was looking for as I remember doing this in the past, but forgot the measurement of salt per Gallon. Much appreciated.

Also, if others want to be sure to see the full recipe instructions, make sure to watch until the end of the video as there are some adding notes!

can you brine chicken thighs then put it into a rice cooker with rice? I have been doing that except without brining and I really like the texture of brining.

Silly question but after brining it in the solution for however many hour do you wash the chicken off once you take it out the bowl. And also is it necessary to season it once it’s finished brining? What kind of seasoning do you like to use for the chicken breast after Brining?

Short and sweet and to the point.  Good job!

I believe you should mix salt in the water first. You added salt to the chicken in a glass of unknown size, then added the water. So the ratio will not be accurate.
