Sky News host Paul Murray has weighed in on Aussie breakdancer Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn's infamous Paris performance and whether sexism is to blame for the criticism she’s received.

The 36-year-old who has a PhD in breakdancing and dance culture and lectures at Macquarie University, competed in the first-ever Olympic women’s breakdancing competition on Friday however scored zero points in all three pool matches against the USA, France and Lithuania.

“Is it sexist for us just to say she was terrible?” Mr Murray said.

“If a bloke danced like that, if any bloke, any person dance like that, I'd be ripping and tearing just exactly the same way.”

No, Albo…the Olympics is NOT about people participating in sport. It's about our finest athletes competing at the highest level.

the bottom line is she is not the best female we had to offer

Complete Disgrace. You go to the Olympics for excellence, not for participation. Zero Points, really?

She's not "amazing". She's excruciatingly embarissing

I didn't see any breakdancing. It was a middle aged woman having a mid life crisis on a yoga mat. And it was done on the taxpayers' dime.

The Olympics is way more than having a crack. You’re representing your country on a world stage and should be at international level.

Her husband being the national coach had absolutely nothing to do with her selection.
Imagine the outcry if we sent a swimmer who couldn't swim.

The Cringiest O Games she made Breaking very UNCOOL now. She will be the reason why BREAKING will no longer be in the O Games.

She said she was pleased to have indigenous art on her sleeves yet there are many indigenous girls/women who would've had a decent chance at a medal and she took their place! Unbelievable

A woman supporting another woman who usurped an opport7nity from a talented dancer.... makes sense

There's a big difference between being a brave underdog who's fighting the odds, and being a spoiled brat who's utterly shite but thinks she's amazing.

Stop sugar coating it. It was embarrassing as and a disgrace. Whats even more sad is she actually serious and thought she did a good job

Australia is a proud sporting nation with large sums of money being spent on sport programmes. We are far beyond "just have a crack".

A phd in cultural studies says everything. Husband is coach and selector.

Who thinks their young sisters playing their recorder flutes badly should be an Olympic event?

It wasn’t that long ago that people where medicated for behaving like that, now it’s considered brave and courageous. The question really should be whether someone with real talent was overlooked to accommodate this comic.

People trying to justify this ridiculous rubbish are delusional. Having a crack at something is not what the Olympic Games is about. Zero points. Is this the first time anyone has been given zero points in an Olympic event? Break dancing? Really? The IOC should never have allowed it to happen……

Anthony, the Olympics is not about having a go, It’s about being selected as being the best in your country, to represent your country, with the best from other countries, to a global audience
