Always warm it up. Very important on turbo engines.

I drive a 2009 civic si with over 230k on it still going strong. I’m a mechanic and I’ve never had to open the engine up at all. I use high quality oil and filters and change it every 5k and I let it warm up for almost 10 minutes in the winter and until the heat gauge moves in the summer.

I have a newer vehicle, and I let it idle for about a minute or so till the RPMs drop, then I'll roll.

My 70 VW bus manual says to NOT "warm up" just "start and go" .
All cars today are
"Start and go"

If it’s not a diesel or a carburetor engine there’s no need to warm it up. Just start and go. Just no high acceleration or else you’ll burn your timing chain over time and that’s even with warming up the engine or not

For the turbo to work correctly it needs to warm up first. Super chargers don't need to be pre-heated

I let it idle till the temp gauge moves a little in the winter I live in the south and don't run the coolant mix I should. I'm good down to 0*F sitting still but wind chill can and will freeze a rad. So I let it get above that 160* low mark on the gauge and take off

Anything direct-injected needs to warm up first but i let all my engines warm up before I put them to work

I fly airplanes, and you must warm up that engine oil before you apply take off power, and that's a fact

I like warm cars in the morning and no scraping the wind shield the no guy probably has a garage or didn't know what cold is

I treat all mechanical equipment like my body. And I would never in my life wake up from bed and immediately sprint. That’s how you get hurt and that’s how things break. Metal needs lubrication and expansion to work properly.

So weird I've been thinking about this exact thing the past couple days. There's a couple people I know that just jump in and mash it which is horrific to watch given it's 20°f lol

It’s actually better to warm it up fast you can glaze your cylinder walls if you don’t You need to warm it up fast but slowly.

Search it up simple, operating temperature. It afectes every kind of motor. And yes specially turbo motors because they are made with more clearance between metals. Whomever doesn’t warm up their motor is putting more wear and tear inside their motor. So what do you think? Simple again 😂 either you don’t care or you do

newer cars you don’t need to, just let the rpm’s drop and drive lol

Get out of bed and immediately take off running down the street naked, if you won't do it why do you do it to your car. 50 years as a master mechanic
