You'll often hear politicians and activists point to the Scandinavian countries as examples of 'successful socialism.'

That is simply not true.

They are referred to as social democracy, not socialist. The difference is that democratic socialism demands that the means of production are owned by the workers. Social safety nets and other benefits are part of socialism but not the whole thing, in socialism no person can get rich by exploiting other people. Hope that clears up the confusion.

Also, a “mix of socialism and capitalism” would require that the government creates business that are run by the workers in every area. Doing this would allow people to choose between having a low paying unfulfilling job for private companies and having a high paying, more fulfilling, safer job were they work less, are valued more and have a say in how the company is run. Also the consumers would have to choose between cheaper, higher quality stuff from the government and worse quality more expensive stuff from private companies. I am all for a “mix of socialism and capitalism” because I know that it will just turn into pure socialism! If it remained effectively a mixed economy, then that would be even better as small business could remain.

Funny how these keyboard warriors always state the means of production and never the redistribution of funds based on needs - socialism. I dunno why they are so afraid on the word so much that they deny the possitives from it. Social democracy is socialism. And yes. The nordic countries are also quite fashist as well. Don't want a service for your private air con - tough luck. You have to have the service of your own appliance by us and you have to pay us. Every year. How about monopol. Wanna buy a screw - pick from one of three brands. Want internet - 3 companies and their sub labels. How about tv licence. Don't have cable - doesn't matter. There is a channel that no one watches, but its free and you might catch it with an antena - you have to pay licence. Why don't we stop it. Cause its not sponsored by a political party and tells the truth. Wait. Scratch that. Don't ask.

You have a summer house - you're not alowed to live in it throughout the year. You need a permanent address somewhere else.

Wanna buy a car - 80-100% taxation for registration. For no reason.

I dunno about your deffinitions of socialism, capitalism, fashism and cominism..but you might wanna go check on the internet. Its pretty straight forward

Socialism != social democracy or social responsibility.

Lool. Everything you said points to them being socialist. Is it meant for irony or something? Of course they aren't completely socialist, they are mixed economies like all developed nations...but they have MORE socialist elements than all the others.

the prime minister of denmark is from the right wing, so of course he’d like to think that.

These countries are also about the size of large states in this country and are 100% homogenized societies more or less .they didn't really start having any serious problems until they flooded the place with so-called refugees entering their countries illegally
