CrowdStrike Outage: Disrupts flights, banks, media outlets and companies around the world

A global technology outage grounded flights, knocked banks and hospital systems offline and media outlets off air on Friday in a massive disruption that affected companies and services around the world and highlighted dependence on software from a handful of providers. Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said that the issue believed to be behind the outage was not a security incident or cyberattack — and that a fix was on the way. The company said the problem occurred when it deployed a faulty update to computers running Microsoft Windows.

This is why we don't like monopolies. One company should not be in charge of everything global. 😮

I’m a 911 operator and last night was a disaster. We went back to pen and paper for hours, it was chaos. Not seeing folks talking about the hospitals and emergency services systems that also got shut down. People seem to care so much more about their travel plans.

Not a cyberattack, but a “bug” in the software from cybersecurity. That IS a cyberattack.

The whole world can shut down if someone updates their computer?! And THIS is the world we want to live in?!

I’m starting to think that the people who hid their money under mattresses after surviving the Great Depression knew exactly wtf they were doing lol (always thought this, it’s just a joke)

Trial scenario in progress. Commerce is vulnerable, just like the millions of people who perished during the Covid-19 outbreak.
Social collapse and disfunction of our banking infrastructure, Experiment Phase 2.

I don't know why people are surprised. A year ago United kept having malfunctions so they left me and 20, 000 people stranded for a few days with no refund or accommodations. If there wasn't an amtrack near me, I would have been there for God to know how long.

We should never depend on one source for everything, like putting all your personal business on your computer or phones.
We use to call the banks for info, check airlines on our phones, making calls, not using electronics to rely on!
Did you have this issue with home phones, no!

So typical, the most problems you'll ever have with your phone, computer, etc... is after an update!

I work for SSA and we're closed to the public but still have to work on phones, but get this, our systems aren't working. Received phone calls and texts from the gov back to back about this. I'm preparing to be cursed out as if any of this is my fault😒
