Along the lines of your advice:
-Shooting into corners of room
-Shooting into doorways/windows
-Dress the walls... don’t have ugly bare white walls in the first place
-Always make sure there is an eye-light reflection on subject
-Have as many “Ansel Adam’s zones” as possible
-Paint/shape image with shadows as much as with light
-Movement in environment when possible... wind outside, smoke from cigarette, fans moving, curtains moving, moving light source like passing headlights, rain
-Motivated camera movement, the secret language of the camera that tells us who is feeling what/when and expresses power dynamics without dialogue exposition
-Have shots with foreground elements often... then move the camera to create parallax(but don’t over-use parallax because it calls too much attention to the camera behavior)
-Use reflections to generate interest, depth and as a device to investigate character’s inner thoughts/condition
-Control the degree of mystery regarding a character by the degree you see their full face... *Back of their head: full mystery
*Profile: sense there is more than meets the eye
*Full face, half shadow: Deliberate display of duality
*Full face, high key: You’re watching “Friends” or a camera tutorial

Thanks for quality content! Almost missed these tips because everyone else on Youtube just uploaded their thoughts on the FX3! 😂

Really love the content in your channel. Instead of posting all videos about new cameras, you focus the image, the color, the story, the art, bascially anything about the film. Love it!

I'm so impressed you art directed that car driving by when you pointed out your window to draw visual interest ;)

I'm a simple man, when I see a Fincher or Deakins or Young reference, I subscribe. Well done friend.

That final shot that you workshopped was stunning. I’ve got a shoot this weekend and I’m hoping to take in a lot of these principles. Thank you!

I feel like no one really does the type of content you do, at least not as good as you. Videos like this are just awesome, and help me so much🙏🏻
So thank you, keep up the good work, and you definetly deserve more subs🔥

One of the best videos I've seen regarding film/video production on YouTube. Content, storytelling, art direction and lighting touched on in the first few minutes. I wish more people emphasized this over just what camera and lenses they use. The audience doesn't really care once they are engaged. As a result, I happily listen to what you have to say regarding camera and lens choice.

I always look to use “emotion” to create a better image, either from the action of the subject or emotion in the frame, emotion will always be more interesting. Like Kubrick always said, “you can do reality all you want but if it isn’t interesting, it won’t matter how realistic the scene is.”
Real. Emotion. Always.

Yes!!! Finally someone who really takes colors in frame serious. I’d even take a light blue longsleeve to the brown and green and the grey hat.
Great video!!! ⭐️🔥

Thank you for your hard work on putting these lessons out. You are a true value to the community 🤙 My favorite part is showing the thought process as you put your scene together.
