For anyone wondering why there is not much movement is because in ww1 trench warfare was heavily used and it did not let nations advance very easily

Fun Fact: The German Empire got into heated diplomatic relations with the Ottomans because germany wanted to protect their oil interest in the caucaus mountains

In 1914, September, Germany almost won the war on the Western Front. After the British clashed the Germans at the town of Mons, The British and the French retreated. The German armies were in sight of Paris. The commander of the French, Joseph Joffre, knew something had to be done. The French and the British made their stand at the Marne River. (40 miles away from Paris) Their desperate counterattacks managed to save Paris and forced the Germans to retreat.
