According to the Australian War Memorial website from a population of fewer than five million, 416, 809 men enlisted, of which over 60, 000 were killed and 156, 000 wounded, gassed, or taken prisoner.
My Australian Great Uncle was one of those killed. He’s buried in Belgium 🥲
I only put this in here as sometimes Australia gets forgotten during war history.
Darwin Australian had more bombs dropped on it than Pearl Harbour during WW2.
