I confess I am always amazed by "journalists" who hate the idea of a free society. And the very nature of a free society is one which is administered under the rule of law. Once you start adding restrictions beyond what the law requires, it is impossible to suggest you live in a free society. Everyone would restrict someone from saying something, so it is inherently a binary issue. You either live in a free society or you have various people with various agenda's dictating what you can say or do. And when you have "journalists" trying to obfuscate or debate that, you have already lost your free society, it is then simply a question of how badly you have lost it. And when even the journalists are prepared to have that discussion, they are no longer worthy of being called that.

Who defines what hate speech is? In Canada, factual speech can be deemed as hate speech, there must be NO censorship or we are fracked.

Dr Peterson will survive, he has gone to Daily Wire and so he will thrive. It's important to society that Dr Peterson and those like him have free speech so Elon best get on the freedom train and fix the mess that is Twitter. Dr Peterson is a national treasure....can't say the same for Twitter.

But it IS against the law to misgender somebody in Canada now (Bill C16)... because of a bill that Jordan Peterson was against. A man in BC is in jail for calling his daughter his daughter when she wanted to be transitioned into a boy. A restaurant in BC was forced by the courts to pay a woman $30000 for referring to her with female terms... and this loon also wants to be referred to as "they" (- a term we were all taught in English class should only be used to refer to more than one person. This is the kind of crazy society we are living in. As Jordan Peterson has said, instead of getting these people help we are now forcing society to kowtow to mental illness and narcissism . True gender dysphoria is extremely rare, affecting about 0.003% of people, and the HUGE upspike in people thinking they have it now - a 5000% increase since TikTok became popular, is due to "sheep" mentality and a desire to fit in and be seen. Instead of goths, emos and punks, we now have the LGBT (etc) gang. Even multiple personality disorder is almost common amoung Gen Z TikTok users (some psychiatrists say it's up in the 20% of their young patients)... despite the fact that TRUE multiple personality (DID) is EXTREMELY rare.

Sadly instead of getting help for people like Ellen Page, she and others like her are being profited on by criminal doctors because "going trans" and all the drugs and surgeries involved is on its way to be a billion dollar industry.

it's completely screwed up that "deadnaming" or "misgendering" that those are Twitter policy violations. As you said; it's not illegal to do it out in the world.... It's the first thing Elon should delete out of there. Twitter is way, WAY too restrictive. People who want content moderation are free to use the 'block' button on anyone.

As long as you are not breaking the law, it should be allowed. Free speech is free speech. You may not agree with what that person is saying, but it still should be allowed. Simply move on and ignore it, or respond with your difference of opinion.

Meritocratic moderation of content is the only content moderation that aligns with nature. Every other kind of moderation is subjective, clouded by identifications and illusions and leads only to suffering and divide. A “safe space” is an imaginary construct.
