Sony FX3 / FX30 Custom Buttons & Settings

Показать описание
I show the custom buttons and settings I use to set up my Sony FX3 to be more efficient when shooting. I show how I set up the custom buttons on the FX3 and configure the menu settings to enable me to exposure and focus correctly.

The Sony FX3 is highly customisable so offers many solutions depending on your usage. I found most of the default button settings to be intuitive but not all so I've been working on this setup over the past few months to find the perfect custom solution for my shooting style.

Hi Paul - I just received an FX30 this week and I'm finding it to be a great value. Your videos are a gold mine! Thanks so much for your efforts...

Thanks, Paul. That was helpful. I just bought my FX3 about five weeks ago and, frankly, I did not have any system yet in place for shooting with it in some organized manner re: controls. Yours is a good start.

Could you do a video on exposure for Slog3, one for Cinetone and a final for ProRes Raw? Love your videos as they are simple and straightforward.

On another note how do you find the reliability of the T5 drive with the Atomos, any issues? Is there a particular model I should be getting, just the standard T5 1gig?

Thanks for sharing. Can you record 4k video via HDMI on the Ninja V, when in flexible ISO mode?

Hi Paul, thanks for sharing these great ideas - I really liked the first one!
However, when I set it on my fx30, the focus hold button on the lens only does the opposite... While the camera is set to MF it does nothing as long as I hold it, and when I let go, it then switches into AF. When I press and hold it again, it goes back to MF as long as I hold the button. Any idea what setting causes this? I'd like it to switch so AF when I hold it, just as you showed.
Thanks for your advice and all the great videos!

Hi Paul ! Let me thank you for all your video on Sony FX3. It's help me a lot as a beginner on this camera. I would like to ask you few question if you don't mind.
First, I don't know how to manage the Atomos Shinobi and the monitor of the FX3 at the same time, do you have a tips for me please ?

Second, I would like to understand the picture profile because I don't know wich one is the S-Cinetone, and the S-LOG 3 between all those PP1, 2, 3 etc ... ?

And finally, I would like to really understand the differences between "file format" and which one is the best to work in post ?

If you could answer me it will be great, and better maybe you could make another video on those subjects.

Thank you very much Paul and have a nice day.

Hey Paul, @ 1:30 you mention about toggling between touch focus & touch tracking. Have I gone mad? Or did v2.0 remove this feature? I can only find and change between tracking& touch focus buried in the setup menu, and further when I try and customize to a button, this menu selection disappears. Please tell me I am missing something..;)

Hi Paul, let me start by saying I love your content. I often rewatch your videos to refresh my memory. I was wondering if you already updated your fx3 (to version 2.0) and how this update effects your workflow and/ or your button short keys?

Hi Paul, thanks for this video. With my fx3 it works only in the reverse way. AF is working and when I press the lens focus button it switches to MF. I want it like you. Use MF and when I press the Button go to AF. What I am doing wrong? I have no cloue. Get freaking out now because of this … please can you help me ??

How do I turn on the histogram? What are the zebra values you set for (a) camera skin tones and (b) atomos full picture?

Paul, I’m using you settings as a starting point, so thanks!

However I have a question:

I’m not seeing the same functionality you describe with custom button 4. I have it set as you describe but when I toggle it, it doesn’t cycle between touch focus and touch tracking. Any idea why?

Hi Paul! Thanks a lot for your videos. Helped me alot when I decided to change to SONY and the FX30. I have seen in your video here that the Fx3 has a function called AF/MF selector hold. The way it is used in your videos, as I understand it, is to have the camera in MF mode and then when you need you temporally hold the button (AF/MF selector hold) for as long you want AF to kick in. My problem with FX30 is that when the Button is hold it changes to AF, so then you have to push AF/MF toggle to change back to MF. Do you recognice this? Thankful for help! Best regards Petter
