Nile red has an amazing video all about Ferro fluid! He actually makes the stuff in said video, on top of thoroughly explaining exactly what a ferro fluid is and how it works. What’s weird is the stuff he made is actually of a higher quality than most of what you could buy commercially.

This is so cool! I am part of a student led research group that does a lot of ferrofluid research. It's usually the other way around with the ferrofluid consisting of non polar and long chained mineral oil and iron nano-particles. The ferrofluid can then be suspended in alcohol. It could in the future be used for all sorts of important stuff like pumps peristaltic pumps for medical applications and bearings that last longer because there is no metal-on-metal contact and the fluid can be held in place by magnets instead of seals. The latter is also great in space where you can't replace them which is why we flew one to the iss

My old roommate worked with ferrofluids in a CARPETED lab! So when there were spills, they "vacuumed" it with 4in/100mm diameter neodymium magnets 😂🧲🖤

I have ferrofluid cooled tweeters in my composite speaker boxes. Not as cool looking, but they can produce insanely loud, high frequency sounds without overheating the coils.

The second I seen this I worked it out and decided I'm gonna build one using the magnetic speaker driver itself to move the liquid 🙏

Ferrofluid is such a bizarre thing to exist but it looks so cool. I'd love to play with it one day.

Playing with the Ferrofluid speaker for so long you make a video about it has a certain amount of wholesome ADHD energy.

Speakers already use magnetism (i mean duh, not like there'd be a waterwheel backstage). I can imagine it's the same mechanism except the vibin canvas is replaced with that ferofluid chamber.
