Dude! Without this video I would never have found that little slot. Or dared to crack the key fob open. Thanks!

This is better than the other video I saw that used the emergency key itself. That bent the plastic for me :( This popped it right off

thanks for this video - my car has been telling me for weeks the key fob battery was low but I ignored it and then a couple of days ago almost couldn't get in my car but I did make it home. Got my spare key that has been unused since I bought the car and it too gave the low battery warning. Your video was really helpful and I don't think I would have figured out how to open it at all!

Thank you very much, this saved me a trip to Kia! And the only tutorial I found for my smart key. I hate that Kia doesn't include instructions in the owner's manual...

Thank you. The video works for KIA Niro key too that is not the same but very similar (there is difference between internal battery holder)

Do you need to recalibrate the key after battery replacement? It used to be the case on old opels and fords back in the day.

I watched a different video first that instructs you to use the blade-key & twist in the middle. My fob didn't want to open and I feared damaging both the case and the blade. Using a screwdriver in the side slot as you did is the proper way to open the case.

It's important that BEFORE users attempt this to make sure they have the proper replacement battery: a *3v 2032 coin-cell battery.* Otherwise, you'll have to reassemble your fob just to drive to the store to get the proper battery and do it all over again. ;)

Just use a flat blade screwdriver in the key slot that holds the keys. Mine for 2024 has a flip-out key that is permanently attached to the FOB. Flip it out to access the slot and pry near the pivot point end of the key. After that remove the side that pops off then remove the small Philip screws then remove the battery cover to access the 2032 button battery. They're sold everywhere for around 5 bucks or so (depending upon how badly the store wants to gouge you).
