PLEASE make sure you CHECK if your old key-fob has a chip inside the remote - "tiny little black piece", IF you have it make sure you switch it to your NEW key-fob, Not all key fobs have it, so check and switch it if you have it!

6'12 - you say : "it doesn't click enywhere" - yes, you're right, because you tried to click it into the wrong part. This electronic board (the green part) clicks without any problems to the second black part of the body - where you istall the battery. I did it and it was so easy. Next thing: you didn't mention about taking out the immobilizer sensor and placing it into new shell. I did all operations, as you showed, and everything was ok, I could lock and unlock my car, but I couldn't start the engine because immobilizer placed in my car did not "see" the sensor, which I didn't fix naturally. Luckily I asked my friend who repairs cars and he told me about that. Anyway - thank you for professional instruction!!!! Andy.

What a GREAT video. Finally....somebody who explains it the RIGHT way. You enabled me to switch the old key (shaft) from two beat-up Hyundai (2013) Santa Fe key fobs over to new ones I got on Amazon for super cheap! Even just getting the keys laser cut was going to cost a fortune.
HERE'S A TIP FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T GET THE KEY TO "POP OPEN" EASILY AFTER INSTALLING THE ORIGINAL KEY SHAFT INTO THE NEW CASE:
After the first key changeover, I found that the fit was "too tight" on the new fob for the key to flip open. You could manually pull it out, but it still wouldn't pop open. (I also trimmed down the plastic where the tip of the key goes into the slot on the new fob...the original key was a hair longer than the new Amazon model, so I just used a razor knife to trim a small amount of plastic at the very end of the slot and the key could fit into the slot properly. BUT STILL, IT WOULDN'T POP OPEN.
I discovered that the original key's hole (that fits down over the plastic hub where the spring locks in) is just a tiny bit smaller (in diameter) than the aftermarket one, so the key wouldn't sit all the way down on that hub when it's put back together. The top hub (top cover) fits fine, but that bottom hub where the spring locks in was just the smallest bit too thick (or wide) for the original key to sit completely flat.
I used a dremel tool to remove just a tiny bit of the thickness of the plastic hub (circle) that the key sits down onto, and then was finally able to get the original key to lay flush. I worked the key back and forth a bit to further make the fit better, then put it back together. Now, the key fits flush and pops open perfectly. Not sure if was just the specific aftermarket key fobs I bought, but for those who can't get the origijnal key shaft to pop open when you press the button, this may work for you. REMEMBER, JUST REMOVE A VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF PLASTIC FROM THE THICKNESS OF THAT PLASTIC ROUND "HUB." Don't destroy the hub itself or the key could pop out of the fob. Just make it a little thinner (narrower wall) and use the key to judge when you've taken enough off (when the key sits flat in there against the case.) Hope this helps.
Thanks again, Wiki universE for a great step-by-step video.
NOTE: My 2013 Santa Fe keys did not contain a transponder chip, so it only required me to change the circuit board, battery and the key shaft itself from the old to the new.

Worked perfect for my Kia Soul. I put the needle nose plyers in the hole but could not get it to pop open. Tried several times. Then I used slip ring plyers and POP, it opened. So instead of pulling the needle nose apart, the slip ring plyers are backwards and you squeeze them to spread apart. But now my key-fob is brand new! I even replaced the CR3032 battery since I already had it open. Thank you so much! Ron in Oklahoma.

I watched a bunch of videos but it wasn’t until watching this one that everything “clicked” and I felt confident enough to start. It all came together perfectly and much more easily than I thought was possible.

The spring in the key fob has already fallen on the floor and I didn’t even know it has a spring. After watching your video, I realized there’s a spring and I had to search for it. Then I fix the battery and the key fob!!!!’ THANK YOU

Fantastic how-to video !! You are correct when you talk about all the music and nonsense in most how-to videos, while they don't explain all the details about what they're doing, very unprofessional. Thank you for your clear, concise and most importantly, detailed explanation of the task, and why certain things are important and other things are not.

*PLEASE READ IMPORTANT* * Immobilizer Transponder chip! If you have one in the old key fob, you will need to change this over aswell or the car will not start! I've been chasing this issue for hours! Extremely important for anyone that has one and doesn't switch it over, the car will not start! Its a black chip underneath a white block in the upper corner of the fob.

Hi there! Thank you so much for helping me with this setup. I did notice that the key section of the fob has actual alignments for the internals so you don't have to fidget the key internals to keep them in the middle, which made putting it together super simple. (You can see the seating on 10:08 as the little black dot in the key part)

You saved me so much money man, thank you. If every problem was explained by you I don't think I would have any.

This worked perfectly and was a lot simpler than other methods! Took me 5 minutes for 2 keys, saved me a ton of money.

Your detailed instructions on how to take apart the broken KIA key-fob and then re-assemble the new one was brilliant! thank you!

Just done the fob change, I fell for the immobiliser trap, that is, I didn't place it back in the casing (car wouldn't turn over), then I just replaced the grey plastic cover. Again it didn't work. After re visiting and reading through the comments, I was informed there is a small black piece that goes under the grey plastic bit. That was luckily still in the plastic bag which I used for disassembly, but it was in my main rubbish bag....a lot of searching it came to light. In it went. And like magic, my car now starts. Fantastic content everyone.

I'm so glad this showed up as my first search result because it saved me a lot of trouble.

The only issue I had was that the old key fob did NOT open up and shatter as easily as the one in this video did - I had to spend significant time and force to slowly bend the case open using different tools.

If you run into the same issue, make sure you keep your tools as close as possible to the spot indicated in the video (the deeper area by the key) so you don't damage the electronics! (And of course be careful not to injure yourself.)

Excellent video with great detailed advice - thank you!

Very nice video as I've watched a few. However you failed to disclose that some fobs (depending on the Country you're in) have a chip in the lower corner that you may have to transfer to your new fob, or your ignition won't start. So remember to check your make and model people, so you know if you have to also get the chip out also. You might also want to keep your Kia emblem from the old fob, so get a drop of super glue and just remove the old one with a tiny screwdriver and transfer it over.

Thank you, thank you for the step-by-step video! You saved me lots of money!
The dealership wanted over $200 + reprogramming, so more like $325 for one fob.
There is no programming involved. It has a tiny circuit board that works with the battery.

Thank you so much, my key had been ragged out of the fob and was struggling to get it back in, your explanation of turning the key one turn before putting the key back together was what was missing from every other video. Thumbs up from me

Thank you so much for your video. I tried watching someone else and it just didn't make sense. I looked again and found yours. You went slow, showed what you were doing and why. Exactly how I needed it all done!!

We need more videos like this! No bullshit talk for 10 minutes before showing how to do something. Just cutting to the chase and explaining the small details that others leave out. EXCELLENT tutorial! Worked like a charm! Thanks!

I looked at a few Kia Soul key fob DIY videos, and this one by far saved me the most time. I had to use more force than you to break it apart, but it was definitely the best (and safest) method. Thank you for this video!
