Apple’s new iPad Mini (7th generation) with the A17 Pro chip has landed. Let’s do a quick unboxing and run some comparisons with the previous iPad Mini (6th generation) and its A15 Bionic chip. What are the performance improvements? Can you use a 2nd generation Apple Pencil? And has Apple fixed the jelly scroll?

This is much better than bigger channels that just compare basic specs

I upgraded my mini 6 to a 7. Considering the 6 is 3+ years old, and a trade value of $230 for it, I pulled the trigger. Twice the storage, twice the RAM...worth it to me.

I think it’s a shame that while the iPad Pro with A12X can support Stage Manager, Apple choose to not, at the very least, bring external monitor Stage Manager to the iPad Mini with A17 Pro.

Mine is supposed to arrive today. 5pm and the UPS guy is taking his sweet time.
Probably gonna say no one home lol.

I hope Apple someday can make a mini Pro, I want the good specs (nice oled display with promotion and quad speakers) but don't want a big tablet.

First: Best review ever.

Second: The Ipad Air has the same jelly scroll issue, but when used in landscape cause the refresh is opposite to the mini!

I’m actually glad it doesn’t have 120 hz because then I would have upgraded my 6 and now I can save my money awhile longer 🤣🤣

Finally an honest demonstration of the Jelly Scrolling issue. I've noticed that other reviewers will very quickly and rapidly scroll up and down to hide the jelly scrolling and use content that minimizes it. Makes me think they are being paid by apple?

Great and info . Every other channel is saying that the jelly scroll is fixed . I can see on your video that it is still there .
Thank you for sharing .

My 1st Apple product was the iPad mini 4 found it so useful in my last job that I bought a maxed out iPad mini 5, however I’m still waiting for a genuine update not these half arsed offerings using leftover parts. Fortunately I’ve moved on from my old job and I don’t need a iPad mini anymore, however I do like to take my iPad mini with me as it’s such a convenient size to carry as opposed to my iPad Pro so much so if Apple did actually put some effort into designing a new iPad mini I would buy it, but I won’t be holding my breath on that one!

I’ve been watching reviews of the new iPad mini and yours was the best one yet! Thank you 😊

I also noticed that it stutters when you scroll anything, it was already a few 60hz, if you lower the frequency even more it becomes terrible to see! I would have preferred jelly scrolling. I hope they solve it with updates at least for the fixed frequency at 60hz and not less

The space gray of the new model seems to have a lighter tone than the previous one, doesn't it? Thank you!

Great video again. I really wanted OLED and Pro motion on iPad Mini 7, the price is fairly high for a small device and could justify it.
But I'm not a fan of the 10.3 iPads or bigger, even though I have huge hands, maybe getting wimpy😂 in my old age lol.
Thanks Constant Geekery.

Your review is fair and balanced, quite helpful.

I have a 128 gig mini 4. People spent 499.00 for a mini 6 with 64 gig. There was a 150.00 difference between that and 256 gig.
On the new I pad there is a 100.00 difference.
I am going to buy the 256 gig as I plan to have this iPad a long time. My 128 gig mini 4 lasted 9 years. With AI, you don't know how much memory the other apps are going to eat up so you are covered in that regard. Oh and for the people who don't think this tablet is a seller, Amazon in UK sold out of Wi-Fi only versions, then though the UK customers are denied a plug with their purchase!

There's been a boost in GPU performance so maybe the jelly scrolling is lessened by this?

I think the jellyscroll that you see may be the refresh rate being 60Hz and not the screen itself; I went frame by frame and the 6th gen slants but not the 7th gen.
As someone that owns an iPhone, iPad Pro and Macbook Pro with promotion a 60Hz display is very noticeable, and that might be what you see.
