Dylan and Reebs, I spent the past week in 3 ERs with my dad. He has CHF but has been eating vegan for the past 4 years. However, his CHF is worsening over time and he started getting fluid on his lungs. They told him very strictly that he needs to cut his sodium way way way down. He was so bummed out by how bland his food is tasting but I put your Asian sauce on his dinner last night and showed him your BBQ sauce that he can use too (I need to reorder your Ketchup, Italian dressing, etc!) and his face lit up! He said "It's all about the sauce!" He was so relieved to have flavor back in his meals. I have given him your sauces before but he strayed away. :) Thank you for making a product that will help to keep my dad on the diet that will allow him to stay out of the ER.... and save his life. 💗💗💗

Perfection-seeking is another manifestation of the pleasure trap. There's a dopamine hit when "ahhh!" you've done it "perfectly." What needs to be realized, is that true perfection is eating the right foods without feeling like you're trying, and not worrying about the details. The easiest way to do that, is to eat whole starches with fresh or cooked vegetables and fruits, enhanced simply with spices and/or fatty whole plants, perhaps a touch of salt or sugar.

Sample menu for me for the week - keeping it simple and easy:

potatoes and other roots vegetables
rice, brown and white
broccoli and other greens
beans
fruit
whole grains, whole grain flours, including pastas
non starchy veg of a rainbow of colors, as desired
spices, herbs
other - mushrooms, nutritional yeast, vinegars, red wine for cooking on occasion, soy sauce...et cetera

I make soups, stews, pasta dishes, stir fry, salads, sandwiches....I'm spending more time writing this comment, than I will on preparing my food for today. I'm cooking 2 pounds of brown rice, and I'm gonna have 2 pounds of stir-fry (no oil) broccoli. I also have jumbo russet potatoes, and will make some fries with ketchup...so simple, SO easy to execute, totally affordable, and delicious.

This video came right on time because I just started my plant - based diet today. I followed the daily dozen to meal prep today and immediately got overwhelmed. Plus, it ended up being too much food for me to finish before the day was out. I'm happy you made this video because now I know for sure I don't have to get it perfect every time. Thank you!!!

Hurray! Dillon is back with a Plantrant! This is such great info for us (decades long) compulsive calorie counters. I love your practical, realistic approach to actually LIVING this lifestyle rather than turning it into a new project that I can transfer my obsessive tendencies on to. 😄 "Who wants to live that life?" Excellent question -- almost feels too good to be true!

Thank you, Thank you. I've been WFPB for almost 9 years and this is simply the best advice for anyone getting started or continuing to eat this way. All the road blocks you've mentioned actually frustrate people and they give up. I eat a healthy bowl of different foods every night and I've never felt better.

For three months now I have been eating vegan. I have been pleasantly surprised by the variety of recipes that I could find on Youtube! I have been learning to cook food from so many different countries. I was warned about getting type 2 diabetes and read that a fat free vegan diet would help me. I have lost a lot of weight without even trying with this way of eating. In February I will find out if that has worked. Thank you for your contributions ❣️

Brilliant message. Keeping it simple really pays off when it comes to health and diet. You're more likely to stick to a plan with simplicity.

Thank you! I really needed to hear this. I am on Week 3 of eating WFPB and I'm doing my best. I really really want to stick to it for my health and for weight loss. I have been dabbling into this type of lifestyle for a couple of years without a true mindset shift and i have failed miserably. I am finally putting my full effort into achieving my goals. I'm just taking it day by day, learning a few new recipes to help me stay on track. My husband is not completely on board but supports my efforts and will sample my meals which is somewhat helpful. I love what you said about only being able to control yourself and allowing others to choose their own path. This is my journey and I need to stay the course for me!

LOVE this! You have a way of putting things that gets through to me (finally). "Then why don't you just eat only potato skins?" Brilliant! It was like a light bulb going off over my head. Thank you for that! I've been off-the-wagon, on-the-wagon with WFPB for many years, and when I'm doing it "right" it is all about perfection and it works fine while it lasts, but it is exhausting (and impossible) to stay perfect, and once I slip a little I just give up and start eating garbage. I think I've finally seen the light! Thank 🙌

Thank you very much for this statement. I appreciate you so much and support you completely. I'm an M.D. specialized in WFPB nutrition in Germany. Fight pretty much alone, there are many doctors who still rely on high animal protein. I love sharing your channel, you always get to the point. Thanks Dillon and Reebs

Your advice is so sensible. I try to do everything and end up doing nothing because its all too much. You make it so much easier. Love your channel!

❤ this. I went through phases of trying to be perfect: daily dozen, raw, GBOMBs, it was all consuming. I don’t have time for that, I’ve got a job and kids . I eat non-fussy now, I love your recipes. In fact, I feel better not having anxiety about my nutrients and meals. I eat the same meal for lunch-rice and tofu with whatever veggies are on hand.

Thanks, Dillon. You guys are great. I have severe fatty liver and I need to lose a lot of weight and a major part of that was getting on a sustainable, healthy diet. Plant based was the way to go and I've not been disappointed and a lot of the credit for that goes to your guys. So, thank you for helping to make me last a little longer on this world. :)

💖this! As a thin person & someone that checks off the ✔️Daily Dozen boxes 🔲 EVERYDAY, I added date sweetened chocolate chips back into my diet. And some days have had SEVERAL servings of them!🤦‍♀️ I took a screenshot of your calorie density chart because I needed a reminder to eat more at the LOWER end!

Great video Dillon! I used to try and buy organic vegetables all the time, but now I buy what I can afford, and I also buy frozen vegetables and fruits. I have been using your recipes and I'm doing great and I'm losing weight and I eat your simple easy recipes on repeat and I'm enjoying them all. I stopped listening to what people say and do what's best for me.😊

Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this video. I switched to a wfpb lifestyle last April. I've lost 35 lbs, and I'm at my stopping point. It does not have to be complicated. Your videos have helped me tremendously.

I have said this so many times to people just starting out. And if I'm being honest, I have to remind myself of this at times. I frequently refer people to your videos for this very reason. Thanks to both you and Reebs for stating this and keeping your recipes simple. We all have so much going on in life and dang sure don't need any more stressors.

Yes! I periodically fall into one of the perfection traps you mentioned. This is a great reminder to keep it simple.
