My first year film at Calarts!

A guy who loves to take care of others learns that he needs to take care of himself too.

Film by Eleonora Stella Hariyono Oei
Music by Alia Martin

I learned a lot from making this film, I'm looking forward to make more films in the future! Special thanks to everyone who helped me out throughout the whole process!

The way the dog is all shaded in too at the end from missing their owner...

This makes me feel like you can rely on others but you shouldn’t overwhelm others of your problems but share them.

As corny as it might sound, this really sums things up and tells a very good story for some people.

It’s never easy to be there for others and it’s always vital to know you should take care of yourself, too, even when it’s not easy or obvious - it’s not as simple as petting a dog though.

As an NSPL phone operator, this really touched me. Thanks for this animation.

Ioveeee how the dog and the owner connect and recharge. They unburden. The darkness clears up when we reconnect with those we love. Their connection isn't based of a duty. Not out of an emergency. It is love. It soothes. It heals. ❤

Remember : helping someone is the best thing you could ever do. Listening to someone in their time of need can be vital for them. Although letting them vent to you is amazing and a great way to show you care, after a while it can become extremely draining. I’m not saying you should totally ignore them, but just step away for a day or suggest they talk to a therapist. Listening to others problems for long extended times can cause more harm than good and can be damaging to you, so be conscious next time a friend vents.

I came here from another video on Facebook. They didn't even credit you and used some slow emo song in the background. I'm extremely glad I found it, you will not believe how many more people have loved this to bits and just don't know this is the original!

The black thing is an imagery for sadness. At least for me it seems.

In 1minute and 30 seconds you've summed up a lifetime of experiences for some people that are often difficult to explain - myself included. Wonderful work.

I kinda understand this, so the darkness on him grows as he takes up burdens from other people, but it feels like it's getting heavier each time and when he finds a time for himself, he let's it go... this is how I feel sometimes, I'm not depressed or anything, but sometimes you worry about other people, you forget to think about yourself, that's how I see this film!

This is about how much pets mean to you theres always a day everybody hates and when you leave home your dogs miss you and when your out in public or school or sum and bad stuff happens to you it's always good to come back home to your dog because they will always be there for u at any point in life :)

Love this - it popped up as "Life of an Empath" and that is exactly what it's like. So glad to follow the trail to original creator.

I rarely get touch and get sad to an animation/videos/movie. This one moves me, so thank you for this.

Thank you for being You. The dark and light feelings of our emotions are like a second sense to animals. Not everyone has a dog or cat. I have a good friend whose dog always wanted a fuss made of them. It always changed my emotions like a weight taken away.

it happened to me in the past when I had been a listening ear to someone who always shared his problems with me to the extent that I just couldn't cope with them. It made me have a sense of guilt when I could not offer any solution. To the extent that I found my mind being pre-occupied with those problems shared with me when those were not my problems to begin with.

I would like to say i’m a pretty strong-willed person that avoids crying at almost all costs.
This video makes me weep.
