Flow Hive - Varroa Treatment Decision - Day 119 (Part 1)

I explain my decision to treat my hive for varroa. I explain why I decided to treat, what I decided to use and why I decided to use what I chose.

EDIT: People who seem to be upset that I said something negative about oxalic acid as a method of treatment should go and re-watch the video and see that I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH OXALIC ACID VAPORIZATION as a treatment method. I just chose something else this time, for my particular hive, with my particular situation and my particular experience. I am not dissing oxalic acid vaporization and will most definitely use it in the future when I have more hives... just not this time.

How to Use MAQS...

Formic Acid Mite Away Quick Strips vs. Oxalic Acid Vaporization

Good explanation. Good research. Good choice. I'm sure everything will go well and that your bees will benefit greatly.
I am shooting for CNG certification next year so MAQS, or Oxalic are the only viable treatment options. I used Apivar on a nuc so that messes things up :(

Do you have a lot of beetles in your hive as well?

Complexity of method & cost is not a valid reason for dismissing a method of treatment. When you take on the well being of 'livestock', part of your responsibility is making sure you have the means both time & money to take proper care of them. I don't understand why you have the Flow super on (or any while you are treating) still if you are preparing for winter? Again Youtube is not the place to get your information.

Also formic acid it's the same acid some types of ants used to deter predators or pests in their nests.

20 Dollars is cheap? I buy 1 Litre of formic acid ad. us. vet for 9 Dollars an make 5 treatments wiih it. But you need a good dispenser.
