Well done boarding it all out with youngman boards so you arent up and down all the time!

Definitely a good idea using a smaller/normal size tub when mixing. I'm a plasterer myself and mixing smaller gauges means that you always have wet material on the wall/ceiling ahead of you, like rolling mixes. Iv seen so many plasteres mix up huge gauges when they have a big area to do and it goes off on them all at once. Unless you have someone else with you it's always easier to do rolling mixes.

How long did you take? Im a DIY plasteter and needed to plaster a large wall, so though id use extra time . Ist time ive used, mixed extra plaster, loads left after 1st coat, so i wet it up and expected to go off really quick but surprised that it didnt and was able to get 2nd coat on pretty quickly.

Fair play for laying on that lid, personally I would never let anyone lose on a ceiling over 25m2 no matter how quick they are, just in case they run into iusses. Absolutely
No point hitting 50 and ya body is gone..plastering is and always will be a man's job. Pure graft.

Really not a fan of Speedskims SS the blades are crap.
Drop em and they are good for the bin
But each to their own, ya got it done. all the best for 22 bud 🍺

Nice job mate you used super flex towards end of job...what trowel did you lay on with ?...and did you use extra time in each gauge?

Can you do it in sections? Or must you do the full area at the same time? Thanks

This was really helpful - just starting out and building up the areas I do. I have been using multi finish. Does board finish have advantages?

Im old school, no need for speed skim products ect just a Marshall towel needed.

So you don't necessarily need to mix all your gear in one go? I have a big ceiling to plaster on Monday, 18 square metres and will be trying out your method of two mixes. Slightly nervous but Im trying to get a plan sorted before I finish the prep work. Your advise would. be appreciated. Is it okay to blue grit a ceiling? would this help with the background suction? Thank you very much!

How much is a skim per square metre? I have already done the walls and ceiling with plaster board.

If you use half a sachet it still works fine and slows it down, even split into 3 equal amounts , does what it says on the sachet

Is it easy to skim on tapered boards? Iv only ever used square edge
