Показать описание
The solution to a quadratic equation is given by the quadratic formula where D stands for the discriminant and is defined as B squared minus four ac. We can now plot in the numbers and calculate D four squared minus four times one times minus five. Then D becomes 16 plus 20, which is 36. The discriminant tells us how many solutions the quadratic equation has.

If the discriminant is positive, the equation has two solutions. If it is equal to zero, there is only one solution. If it is negative, there is no solution. Graphically, the solution to a quadratic equation is when it is equal to zero. In other words, when the graph intersects with the x axis, we have a positive discriminant. Therefore we will get two solutions.

No solution is wrong ans in third case. Basically we can say that has no real solution in case d<0
