We Slept on Bangladesh's 100 Year Old Cruise Ship (full tour)

We paid $26 to sleep in a First Class Cabin on Bangladesh's 100 year old "Rocket Paddle Steamer"! Would you do it?

We are currently in our 97th country of Bangladesh, and after spending our first 2 days in the crazy city of Dhaka, we boarded this 100 year old ship to sail overnight to Barisal. Paddle steamers have been traveling Bangladesh’s rivers since the early 1900s, but today there are only 3 left in service. The river is filled with hundreds of modern ferries that are faster and more comfortable, but tonight’s journey isn’t about the speed or the comfort, it’s about experiencing a way of travel that has remained unchanged for almost 100 years!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

When the gentleman walked up with the goat to show it to them up close after it ran away, I promptly cried. He was so proud. Goodness, what a kind country.

I don't know why but this Bangladesh series has been the most inspiring thing you guys have posted in a while (and you post a lot of inspiring stuff) - maybe it's just the totally diving in and doing things with the locals in a place where that's not necessarily easy. That and translating the beauty in the chaos through the video. Really makes me want to visit Bangladesh and see all this for myself.

Bangladesh looks like an ongoing painting where the locals add their unique colors to everything.

It’s incredible how you find something so pure in every situation; like we take clean air and sanitary things for granted and when we’re exposed to “unclean” things, we tend to think negatively but you two find something positive. Great travellers. Showing your fans the different realities within one world.

Kara is always so positive! It’s refreshing to see such genuine happiness over very little. Most people would be to scared to stay that ship, but you guys always see everything in such a positive light. I love it.

I love watching this. I have never seen two happier or more cheerful people. Even if it's only for the camera (which I don't believe for a minute), it's totally worth it and a bright spot in a dark world. You also seem unfailingly polite and considerate, so don't worry.

Oh wow. That young man responding "I'm fine, thank you." instantly brought me back to some of my travel experiences. Thanks for that.

It's so sweet how they respect the different cultures, the manner in which they immerse themselves into local areas, without judgement or reservations. Very admirable.
