Have you got a robot vacuum and it’s throwing up an error called “D-TOF sensor malfunction”

what is a D-TOF sensor malfunction and how do I fix it?

Hopefully this video is helpful and gets you back up and running!

This is on an Ecovacs Deebot T9+

If the clean doesn’t work you can always try replacing the sensor with a new 1️⃣ 👇

Note this may also help clear a fault that causes your robot to maping to play up.

Thanks for sharing this video! My vacuum was starting to rotate its floorplan by 45 degrees. Last time this happened I sent it in for a warranty repair and they said they replaced the LIDAR. It's now out of warranty and the same issue has started happening. I found your video, pulled it apart and wiped the inside of the LIDAR cover and for the past 10 days it has been working fine. Thank you so much!

I just had this same problem with mine. With the covers off the sensor I could see that it was trying to spin but kept getting caught up. I took the black rubber band off that runs around the bottom of the sensor and around the drive wheel and gave it a clean and brushed out the groves that it sits in and refitted it. And now it's happy and back to vacuuming 🙌

*Potential fix for those still struggling!*
I tried dusting the cap and device with canned air. I tested running the system without the protective cover and the TOF sensor turned super slow and would stop / start. It's supposed to spin several times pers second.

I removed the rubber band belt with tweezers. I carefully removed the TOF module by unscrewing the three silver screws. I gently pulled out some wire slack and unplugged the connector. Now the module is separated from the vacuum.

The goal is to lubricate the motor. First, I taped the black spinning puck with the lenses facing away from the motor. Next, I took canned silicone lubricant and sprayed the smallest amount possible into the gap under the cream colored motor wheel. Then, I spun the motor wheel by hand in order to work the silicone lubricant into the motor. I wiped away any excess and I repeated this step one more time.

Finally, I assembled the module back together and back onto the vacuum. I tested the assembly without the protective cover again and the TOF puck spun beautifully. Reassemble the cover parts and it's working great.

I found the video. Thank you for good explanation. If you could also can you explain why and how can fix the vacuum cleaner if it is not spraying water

I keep getting this malfunction notice but my vacuum doesn’t move at all, it just sits there and eventually comes up with the notice. I even replaced the part with a new one and it still doesn’t work.
