The one thing that is still steel and rots out quickly are the running boards ! You might have to wait until spring but ...
1) Drill some drain holes in the running boards
2) Rinse the inside out with a pressure washer
3) Wait for a couple of warms days to let the inside dry then spay inside with Fluid Film until it drips out
4) While you have the Fluid Film out, spray the bolts holding the shocks, the tie rod adjuster, the parking brake adjuster, caliper and bracket bolts. Drop the spare tire and spray the entire mechanism and both sides of the spare tire wheel. Do this once a year, and you will be happy when you have to deal with them !!

We live in the semi desert in Western Queensland (Australia) and have 4 Toyotas. One of them is 40 years old and has over 720, 000 on the clock. Rust does not happen in the semi desert, but not having anything but gravel and dirt roads for 60 miles, we specialize in wrecking tyres and suspensions! We don't have your towing requirements and have stuck with Toyotas for reliability, and because we can usually fix them. With the nearest dealers 150 miles away, sophisticated electronics can be a pain as they are for you. Different environments different requirements, but we still learn a lot from you and guys like Wes from Fulton IL. Many thanks.

I think the injection system you are referring too with the oil firing the injectors is HEUI. It's used in 7.3 and 6.0, but I think the 6.7 uses more conventional fuel injection like what's found in Duramax and Cummins. Still important to use good oil. Thanks for the videos!

Great video Matt you are correct the 6.7 powerstroke and the other modern trucks use common rail injection, but when you were explaining how it works, you confused it for the HEUI (hydraulic electronic unit injectors) system found in the 6.0l and 7.3l powerstrokes. Common rail uses a high-pressure fuel pump to create constant pressure in the fuel rails, and the injectors are controlled electronically. Similar to modern direct injection gasoline engines but the diesels operate at a much higher pressure. Keep up the good work, really liking the videos recently excited to you fully moved into the new shop.

Hi Matt! A piece of advice for you...get the biggest mud flaps you can find and put them on your front fenders (you already have good ones on the rear). Get the ones that are so wide they'll keep all the slop and salt from flinging up on your front fenders, doors and rocker panels. Hopefully that'll provide a bit more protection against our lovely rust belt. Also, in your copious amounts of spare time, design yourself two pressurized water spray bars that are capable of spraying the underside of the truck. It WILL pay off in the long run. Good luck!!

You can swap the fuse either left of right to make the power points in the truck stay on when you shut the ignition off. It takes like 2 mins to do.. Check your owners manual it will show you how to do that.

Hey Matt,
just a quick tip. Dont kneel down on your seats if they have seat heating. When you do that the heatingwires tend to break. The preowner of my car did this and you have to tear down the whole seat to repair it🙈

Congrats on the new truck. I’ve been running Rotella T6 5W40 in my Ford 6.7 since it was new. Very good oil. You know you don’t have to get under the truck to change the oil. Just turn the wheel all the way to the left and you can easily get to the drain plug and oil filter from behind the right front tire. Been changing my oil like that for years.
I’m on my second truck with the 6.7, I first had a 250 but I kept exceeding the tow capacity so in 2015 I bought a 350 dual rear wheel and it’s a good truck. I found out afterwards that the 450 has a better turn radius. My 1998 IH 4700 has a better turning radius than my 350. You went with the best truck out there. Be safe and keep up the good work.

This isn't in any way saying that "FoRd'S aRe BaD" or anything. All I have to say is that I worked at a Ford dealership for years, and I could happily go my entire life without ever hearing that door chime again 😂😂😂 Enjoy the new truck man!

I just picked up a 2022 F450 A few months back to pull my fifth wheel camper. Love the truck… The turning radius is just amazing to me. One note, it wasn’t the engineers who screwed up the modern diesel, it was the EPA lol. By the way, make sure you change your fuel filters as prescribed in the manual. I actually cut that down by half the mileage it’s not a difficult job. I like to fill my oil filter before installing it to minimize engine wear on start up.

Matt love the videos keep them coming. I am a Ford Senior Master tech and work on those vehicles all day long. Stick with the IOLM for your oil changes since there really is not a true sercive interval unless you idle it constantly then you go by engine hours. For the most part the average is around 7.5-10k miles for oil change. Ford reintroduced the upper oil pan gasket in 2020 so you should not have to worry about upper oil pan leak. 14-19 year model is when they tried using silicone and they leaked bad. If you want you can send me the vin and i can run OASIS for you and give you the complete warranty repair history and let you know of any open recalls or extended coverages. If there is anything you need to know from WSM or wiring let me know and i will send you the information. The only weak link is the CDF drum in the trans. The bushing is known to slip and cause shift concerns and Ford has come out with an upgrded CDF drum with a stop machined in to keep the bushing from slipping.

About the power outlets cutting off after a minute, check the fuse box. My vehicles have 3 prongs for the 12V fuses, so putting the fuse in the top 2 holes means the outlets shut off, and putting the fuse in the bottom 2 holes makes them stay on all the time. I doubt Ford has this feature but it’s worth a look.

Matt, there’s a free software you can use with a $20 USB to OBD adapter to be able to program a TON of stuff on these Fords. One being, the timeout for your power ports. You can set them to be powered always, or a delay of a certain time.

You can also turn on “bambi mode” which allows fogs, high beam, and low beam to be on at the same time, as well as disable all the chimes and dings and doo doo doo’s. 18:12

It’s called Forscan, there’s a lot of info on the forums about it, happy to drop a link if you’re interested! Congrats on the new truck!

Hey Matt! Something to look into. Your drivers door handle has the exposed lock cylinder when you pull the handle. It's a common way to break into them. (Happened to Matt from DemoRanch) You can have the handle swapped for a passenger side handle with no lock cylinder.

Hi Matt, congrats on surging through the 500k subscribers. You put so much work into your projects, and I suspect an equal amount into sharing them with us. Good to see you spoiling yourself with new sheds, trucks and whatever else off the fruits of your labour. Don’t forget to spoil the boss at home. I am sure she also does a whole lot more than we see. Thanks as always for giving us the entertainment you do. Merry Christmas

those aux switches in the cab are genius, and having the dedicated fuse box, really makes adding work lights or beacons easy! and the step for getting in the back is another solid feature
