We often think of Americans as "litigious," or sue-happy. In reality, Americans sue because it's built into the system -- it's a way of securing one's rights in a society that isn't thoroughly pre-regulated. This system enables a more dynamic environment for businesses and others.

The pros and cons are quite interesting. Enjoy the video!

It's not just about big companies, it's about Americans suing each other for anything, people are afraid to even help someone who has fallen to the ground for fear of being sued

In Finland, if you sue someone for whatever matter, and you lose, then you pay the whole thing!!!! So if I buy your house, and I find mold in it, I have to be 100% sure that I will win the case(to cancel the purchase of the house)before I sue the people who sold me the house. Otherwise I end up with paying their lawyer's and their costs of the trial. This is why in Finland people think twice before they sue anyone.

Thank you, I was wondering why americans are always about to sue, but sometimes I don't still really get it, like when there is no damage done, what exactly are they trying to get when suing? Like for example cop being rude, but not harming you. I saw comments that said easy to money if you sue him?

Lawsuits and warning labels are some of the reasons why we can't have nice things

Most Americans are well aware that US citizens are highly litigious, motivated by money, and willing to submit frivolous lawsuits hoping something will stick.

0:29 well mostly it's the other way around. The average person in the US doesn't even know the difference between civil and criminal law....

The more I grow old, the more I realize American's obsession with consent, boundaries and their larger than life victim complex have nothing to do with ethics and morality and a lot to do with their lawsuit culture.

If you are brought up in a culture in which playing the victim gets you handsomely paid, you are going to find look for being a victim. It makes sense.

How about instead of putting the onace on each individual to waste their time and money stressing over finding out if they even have a case or not you just do what Germany does and not allow asshole corporations to run rampant?
