One of the best certifications offered by Coursera is the Google IT Support Certification

People claim to have gotten a job with this online certificate alone, which is pretty mind blowing.

But is a Google IT Support certificate really worth it?

That will be the topic of today’s video
Enjoy!

Yes, its worth it. Googles PM Cert is recognized by the Project Management Institute, the same people who issue the PMP, and many companies are actively recruiting entry level PMs with just the Google Cert.

I have a Coursera subscription and Googles PM course is the first course that I took. I was laid off in May so I have lots of free time for professional development.
I started mid Aug and today (Sept 5th) I should complete the program today or tomorrow. No later than the end of this week.
I've managed people, their projects and have experience in traditional and Agile PM. I'm also Certified in SAFe6 and Lean Six Sigma.
The course is great! Very hands on and informative for those that don't have any experience. It essentially gives insight into how Google and a lot of other companies run their projects.
Now, it doesn't really prep you for the PMP or CAPM but the training hours of this course satisfies the PMP/CAPM application requirement.. For that alone, it's worth it!
I follow and have taken courses from PMP instructors (to prep for the Exam) and they really don't give tutorials on how to create or complete artifacts. They speak on them, focus on PMBOK material and exam prep/passing.
That said, I wouldn't recommend this as your only source of training.

Good luck to everyone!!

I’d rather get this valuable certificate than to spend $100, 000 on a useless bachelor’s degree that’s not even going to land me a job. Thank you for sharing!

I'm a college grad and took two courses from Coursera and graduated with two certificates from Coursera. I was able to gain 24 credits from Coursera and transferred the credits to another University!

Completed in 3 weeks without peer assignments. At times it was so boring I had to skip a lot of videos. There also were very little information about Asana, Jira and other main manager programs. If you are already studying in Uni and you have nothing to do on summer break like in my case, its decent option to ramp up your linkedin and portfolio.

I’m about to enroll today and do as much as I can before starting a new role as a project manager. I have no college and limited experience. Always network because it’s not always what you know but who you know. Accurate information on salaries and experience needed. I’m starting at 65k with higher positions around 90k

I have heard people take the Google PM Certification to prep for the PMI associate certification. Both are entry level. Interesting to hear from others if this is the case?

I’m currently working through this right now. I don’t think the cert itself is worth much, but I’m able to apply the concepts in my current leadership role. Plus it’s a good way for me to get back into the groove of taking classes again and prep for the PMP certification.

I have move to the Netherlands to start a new career. I failed because everything im looking for requires project management skills. I was a project manager but can't demonstrate my knowledge in scrum or agile
So learning it is definitely useful in the field you're working on.
