Another reason Dumbledore was always on top of things was because he had a watch with 12 planets instead of numbers. Hes friends with Firenze and Hagrid knows many of them by name (and if Hagrid knows them, its obvious Dumbledore knows them, plus the Centaurs salute Dumbledore at his funeral). He probably learned to read the stars at least by Firenze to a certain level.

I have a theory. What is Lily Evans wasn’t muggle born. What if her parent or parents were squibs. Hence why they were “proud” when she got her letter. While other muggleborn parents were shocked or had a hard time understanding it all. It mentioned in the books and movies that she got a letter and not someone coming to explain it to her. And petunia is a squib. She wrote to Dumbledore to let her in and he said no. This would explain her resentment and not just confusion. Lily felt at home at hogwarts and unlike other muggleborns who were overachievers or having more stunned reactions about hogwarts. Collin Creavy, with his awe and referencing the muggle world, Hermione becoming the overachiever with her studies and reading. Their parents could’ve moved to spinners end after being outcasted from their families as squibs and integrated into the muggle world like a lot of squibs did. And just thought they wouldn’t have a magical child because of being a squib.

Actually, Slughorn didn't know horcruces inside and out. He stated outright that he didn't know the spell. He only knew of them academically and that's what he divulged to Tom. But, I think Tom had already made one at that point. He was just prodding Slughorn for effect, and to know about making multiple horcruces.

i love how for voldemort growing up it was instantly "i can make bad things happen to people" and not just "i can make things happen without touching them." or even "i can make things happen to people." it has, and never will cross his mind to use his abilities to make good things happen to people.

It would be weird for someone to lose only one emotion
Far more likely to become emotionless entirely
Or possibly due to some shock or trauma temporarily lose your emotions

Having grown up with no real family, no real connection to anybody greatly stunted his emotional growth. The fact that it isn't trust people means he wouldn't try to connect with anyone

I think Merope holding back her magic created an Abscurus and upon her death, the Abscurus attached itself to the only living thing it could, baby Tom Riddle. Don't think it worked like a horcrux does, but that it simply took over his personality and made him pure evil.
Add that to what we do truly know according to Canon, and you got yourself one wicked man.

1. The Wizarding population for Hogwarts during the time of the books are so low because of the 1st war with Voldemort. Aside from Slytherin house for the most part, everyone oppossed to Voldemort was at war and dying off all the time, with only a 10 year gap between his disappearance and reappearce in book 1. Not a lot of time for repopulation outside of getting muggle borns like Hermione sorted in.
2. Going off real world lore (and why wizards went into hiding in the 1st place) they were dying off because the Catholic church were wiping out witches and wizards (and anyone they accused or thought to be one or associated with one) over 100s of years. Hence, major population decrease over time.

49:55 they are just a vaguely Irish stereotype, red hair and big families (cause they’re catholic). The author is English and probably just portrayed them as perpetually broke because that is also a common stereotype, since Irish people were not allowed to own property and unable to build generational wealth. I do love the theory they were cursed

Plus dumbledore knew they moved harry potters trial up a few hours and didn’t tell dumbledore but he just so happened to show up anyways bcuz he may have had the portraits inform him
