The most important thing about a suit is that it needs to fit correctly. That means having it taylored by someone who knows what they are doing. Better a $500 suit that fits right than a $2000 suit that doesn’t.

Any high end mens' suit fitter will explain why the default is to keep the two outside pockets stiched.
Also, a suit jacket looks like dog s--t when mixed with other pants/slacks. That's what sports coats are for.

It was years before I learnt to remove the clothes hanger when I started wearing suits. I thought the hook was a neck/head support and the side bars were shoulder pads like the ladies wore in the 80's.

When you get a suit tailored they take care of all of this for you before you pick it up. 👍🏻

4th: don't assume those are real pockets. Sometimes they are not for some dumb reason

5th: don't assume you should fasten all the buttons. You should usually leave one unbuttoned for some dumb reason

6th: as an employer, don't force people to wear suits at work if they don't meet the client. I have summer horror stories from being a software developer in an insurance company that forced everyone to wear a suit for some dumb reason
