Why I STOPPED using ASUS motherboards...

It has been well over a year since I have personally ditched Asus motherboards. With all the new news from GN/CPU stability issues, it seems their behavior has not changed. I wanted to make this video mostly because I actually DO like ASUS. I am personally upset that their QC has really gone down the tubes.
If you enjoyed the content, drop a like, sub... all that stuff.
Thanks all.

Completely agree, asus have too many products and simply don't have the ability to support them all. As for asrock. Glad I'm sponsored by them, been using them in my main systems since x99. They get lost in translation sometimes being natively taiwan (and it sure pisses off other youtubers), but they ultimately make simple and reliable products.

Bought a Asus Z790 for my last build for 500 bucks. After less than 6 months, it died. I RMAed it, and big surprise ASUS came back and said it was my fault. Which was BS! They sent a picture trying to tell me I had bent some pins. Slight problem NONE of the pins were bent or broke in the picture. I finally had to contact my state's (Massachusetts) Attorney General's Office, which got ASUS to change their tune real fast. Needless to say, I will NEVER buy another ASUS product.

Toxicity in groups usually happens because people are more interested in defending their favorite brand then helping someone out. These folks see people reporting a problem as trash talking their brand preference which leads them to discredit, diminish or minimize problems experience and in turn, try to make it so the people reporting the issues, simply look stupid or like they don't know what they are doing

i learned to not trust any company, just watch multiple reviews before purchasing

MSI Unify, Unify-X, and Tomahawk boards have been really good over the past few generations.

Bought an Asus laptop on boxing day about 10 years ago. It was broken in the sealed box. I contacted them, customer service was agressive. I went to a Best buy with that laptop, they took it back and it was the last ASUS product I have ever bought.

I've been in RMA Hell with MSI since March of last year! I bought a X670 MPG Carbon wifi full price and it worked for about 2-3 months and something went wrong with DRAM. They didn't say what was wrong they just swapped my board out with a brick. They sent me this board back 3 more times saying they "fixed" it then swapped it out again. Then they sent me back another board with damaged CPU pins in the housing (AM5) and when I tell them they said I did it and want to charge me for the damage.

The Asus ROG eye logo is actually an owl eye, so technically asus has a bird logo too, not just Gigabyte. Also, being technically correct is the best kind of correct.

over the past few years i have built and sold PCs locally as well since around 2018 or so alot of the customer systems would come back with the strangest issues. 90% of them were asus boards every since i stopped using them in 2020 i rarely get computers back with issues. Most of the issues that customers had for me is usb issues, randon bsod/ crashes, and somtimes the computers would just not start unless you unplugged it from the wall or shut off the psu. When I RMAd asus boards i typically always get a much worse board back with damage or things just not working

ASUS warranty service in the US has been problematic for a long time. I sent in a motherboard around 2012 which had the NIC go bad. I RMAed it, I received it back about 3 weeks later and not only did the NIC still not work but the PCIe slots were now dead. I replaced it instead of waiting another 3 weeks for questionable results.

I've always viewed ASUS as wildly overpriced and snobbish. You could get the same performance (or nearly the same performance) with most other brands while not having to pay the ridiculous ASUS tax. I had one of their soundcards once and it sucked. I remember thinking "Stick to motherboards ASUS 'cause this soundcard ain't it." Then you had them charging the same amount of money for a 4080 Strix as an MSRP 4090. It's just silly how high they are on their own supply. This recent controversy over their terrible handling of warranty issues did nothing but further cement them in my mind as the money-grubbing pigs I've always thought they were.

Oh boy, the motherboard warranty repair/replacement process is a nightmare. And the part you receive back is someone else's repaired motherboard which, in my experience, has other issues. I had to return multiple warranty repair/replacement motherboards. I finally gave up on this brand.

Been using MSI boards for a while and have not had any issues. On the other hand almost every Asus product I have tried has had some issues.

I have posted as far back as 2010 about Asus's RMA issues being bad. They started out making a person feel like it was somthing you did to make their product malfunction and their converstion was so convoluted that most people would give up. I liked their products but they don't seem to stand behind them. I've since started building with Asrock.

Asus software is super invasive, I have to run an entire "suite" of software JUST to light-up my Rog Strix card...which is nonsense AND why I switched mobos.

My first build when I was a kid mowing lawns to save for my first computer used an AsRock motherboard, still works to this day and from 2009. Results may vary as always, but AsRock, MSI and XFX ( Their GPU RMA was fantastic for me to replace a defective 6800XT ) are preferred manufacturers for me.

I fell for the trap of “buy the cool looking part because it’s probably good”. Never again, fuck Asus everything.

Been in IT since 1997. Started out working in a mom and pop computer repair store. Back then we used ASUS as much as possible. They made great boards. Not to long ago though, my ROG STRIX RTX 3070 start artifacting and the blue in the LED's stopped working. Did the RMA thing which went easy enough only to have it sent back with "problem not found" and "no repairs done". Meaning, I got my GPU back still broken. I ended up using the contact the CEO email form on their website as the RMA was being refused for a second time. The corporate office contacted me, had me send it in under a new RMA and once again no problems were found. Mind you, I originally sent a video clip of the actual problems and it was at minimum very easy to see the blue in the LED's did not work. Anyway, the higher ups must have put their foot down because they sent me back a clearly used 3070 that seems to work but I don't trust it. Here's why. One, I had a little over a year left on my GPU's warranty but now with their replacement GPU I was proudly given 90 days from the date at which I received the card. Two, they found nothing wrong with mine so chances are, some poor soul is now going to have my broken GPU. So, no more ASUS products for me. I've RMA'd plenty of parts throughout my 27 years. ASUS is the first one to fail me so spectacularly.

I have had trouble out of MSI myself. Almost no one else has as far as I can tell. I got back the same board back not fixed (it wouldn't read any ram which is known working taken out of it originally then placed in new MOBO) but was charged $250 on a $90 MOBO. They refunded $200 since it still didn't work.

We should start treating Asus like an AliExpress vendor, it's fine to buy from them just know it is not premium and support is broken.
