The Sonos Amp is a wifi streaming amp that is designed to play streaming music through built in or hardwired speakers. The biggest advantage of the Sonos Amp is that it allows you to remotely stream and control your music directly from the Sonos app on your phone.

The Sonos Amp can also be used in surround sound TV setups in addition to streaming music.

The Sonos Amp has 125W per channel and is capable of driving four standard 8 ohm resistance speakers from non Sonos speaker manufacturers. However if you pair the Sonos Amp with the Sonos Sonance Architectural speakers specifically designed for the Sonos Amp you can connect 6 Sonos Sonance speakers to the Sonos Amp.

The Sonos Sonance speakers are specifically designed and tuned to get the best Sound quality out of the Sonos Amp. One advantage of using the Sonos Sonance speakers is that they allow for "Trueplay" tuning of the speakers with the Amp which is a custom adjustment to tune your Sonos Amp speakers to your room by using your iPhone microphone to automatically tune and adjust the sound in your room to get the best audio possible.

The Sonos "Trueplay" feature is not available when using 3rd party speakers with the Sonos Amp.

The Sonos Amp is compatible with Apple Homekit and Airplay 2 music streaming.

You say that " it is important that 3. party speakers are 8 ohms" Why is that?. On SONOS amp seup it says:

Amp works with traditional bookshelf speakers of 8 ohms as well as pairs of 6 or 4 ohms.

You mention that sonance is designed for this amp, so I have a question. I bought Sonance MagRocks 2.1 set at bestbuy and I am in a need of amp for them. The subwoofer has a crossover so it would need just a 2.0 amp, but this sonos amp is 2x125W and those rock speakers are 100W each and 150W for subwoofer so isn't sonos amp on the under side of power for this set?

My living room is prewired for 3 ceiling speakers in front and two in rear. this will power the 5? Also have a playbar not sure I’m going to use it in living room tho. Will this be a good setup to have? With 5 sonance speakers?

Hey mate I am looking to add the Sonos Ceiling Speakers with Sonos Amp in our master bedroom for use with our TV. However currently we also have a Roon endpoint in our room, and I would like to use the Sonos Amp for this as well. Do you know if Sonos Amp is Roon Ready for streaming, I can't find a definitive answer, seems like a yes but not sure.

Looking to add the Sonos amp to my existing Yamaha receiver and 3rd party speakers. would wiring the speakers directly to the sonos amp and running the line out from the receiver to the line in of the sonos amp work?

Hello! Thank you for your video. I have a question that keeps bothering me and I can't find an answer to anywhere. You say in the video that the Amp requiers build-in or hard wired speakers to operate. Does that mean it doesn't work on wireless speakers alone? Reason I ask is that I want to use the Amp to connect my cd-player and tv to a wireless speaker setup (the Sonos Port doesn't have a hdmi line-in so that's why I was thinking about the Amp).
