great painting strong scomposition!..I love those monterey cypress!... soo expressive!!..I wish you had more of the green foliage in mass..some larger masses on the left would imho give the cypress more strength....also on the right the branch extends more in the photo giving the tree a nice movement of form..does that makes sense.?

Did you let the dark underpainting dry before you laid the green on top. If not ..how did you keep them from mixing in and staying on top. Thank you for sharing. It's a great painting.

great explanation about trees and their shapes...good art books for this are Edgar Paynes book and Carlson's book.
