You're in a whole different category as all the other well-known greats...your detail brings pictures to life and it makes all the difference in the world. I could watch you paint all day, but I wouldn't get anything else done.

Hi Michael
Have just come across your site and very much enjoy your narrative on the techniques that you employ; interesting to observe your choice of flat brush to create the distant tree-line canopy with their triangular shape. Many artists tend to use a small filbert instead which lead to cauliflower/mushroom forms; I think I prefer your method, actually.
It's made my day viewing all your other videos as I find them really informative.
Thank you.

Michael, I was putting the oil on and not getting enough coverage. Took me a while but I finally figured it out.

I love the levels of details of your paintings. Do you think the technic you use would work with acrylic paint with retarder medium?

Michael. Great art as usual. I have a question: I seem to remember hearing that you do your underpainting in acrylic? If so do you thin the acrylic to help the oil stick to it? I have tried using acrylic as a undercoat but I think I put it on too thick because the oils didn't adhere as well as I had hoped.
