"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow."

"Person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals."

That quote is still relevant today

In 1997 this was made. In 2021, the person vs people quote is more relevant today than it ever was

0:45 "Imagine what you'll know tomorrow"

YEARS LATER IN MEN IN BLACK 3
-Time Travel exists.
-Andy Warhol was an agent.
-K been taking care of you since you were a kid.

Part that sticks with me most isn’t the “people are dumb…” part. It’s the “…imagine what you’ll know tomorrow” part

I like how he stays the entire night on the bench by himself instead of talking it over with his closest family/friends. Really emphasizes the importance of his duty to being a person instead of one of the people. I’ve stolen this quote so many times over the years without remembering where it came from, thanks man.

This scene is magic. J is not under any hypnosis, no mind control ray gun, nothing. A long sequence of time, images and music is dedicated here solely to the act of giving life a good think. In a film of wild fantasy and thrilling science fiction, this scene strikes as the most real. It is my favorite moment in the whole film.

I always wanted to just sit down and have a discussion about life with whoever wrote this brilliant scene

You don't usually expect something _this_ profound in the middle of a summer blockbuster.

That long, quiet night before J makes up his mind is one of those moments that makes this film so good. The audience is there to think everything over with him, to allow everything they've seen and heard to sink in.

This film is underrated. I need to sit down and watch it some time.
The "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it." line is perfect to summarize the herd mentality people have and is the perfect thing to quote when the subject arises.

Stargate SG1 does the whole “classified aliens” element very well. Its not just about panic but also a matter of gridlock. Everyone will want a piece of it, civilian, military, foreign, etc. thus preventing them from doing their jobs.

Comment about ‘a person’ vs. ‘people’ more true today than ever...

A person is smart, people are dumb, dangerous, panicky creatures and you know it.
My favorite quote.

the shot seeing both actors sit next to each other on a bench, it feels so rare in a big movies. They never do wide shots where you can tell both actors were actually there.

So weird and two faced movie. On the one hand you watch science fiction show full of many comic moments that make you laugh. On the other hand, if u are perceptive, you can find out some scraps of hidden reality, full of the most important quotes for mankind. This is one of those scraps.

Still the most relevant scene years later

The funner line is "Hey...is it worth it?". After all the philosophical talk, followed by an ultimatum based on it, WS appeals to TLJs humanity. That was a great touch by the writers and really characterized whatever the fuck Will's characters name is.

This hits *Different* after MIB III 😭

K literally watched J the majority of his life from childhood on til, while doing his job as a MIB agent. When the time came; K wanted to make sure it was what James wanted before saying 'goodbye' to life as he knew it.
