My parents have been divorced since I was a month old so I myself can’t tell what’s normal and not normal when it comes to the effects of a child of divorced parents

As opposed to parents staying together learning how to be unselfish and how to work through conflict and to be committed - a child needs to learn that it’s not ok to run from your problems and in marriage you can’t, you just take them with you !

My parents didn't live together for a while I think I was maybe 3?? When they stopped living together. It was really weird for me because my mom would at first stay with my dad but then leave and take her with me. They got divorced when I was 5 I remember they tried to live together. I have this one memorie that I always think about l literally have cried from thinking of it I remember one night I snuck out of my room and heard something happening downstairs and it was my parents they were fighting. Being an only child with divorced parents suck one parent is always talking bad about the other well both talk bad about each other and honestly it just feels wrong that I have a step dad it feels like I almost betrayed my dad even though I still see him.

What about children that went through a parent divorce, say at age 7, then got thrown around like unwanted pets, say to aunties, uncles, cousins, grandparents until the kids were old enough to fend for themselves? Asking for a friend

my environment was not peaceful or loving. it was more isolating and depressing. like me and my brother were given up on and our vision of life was in jeopardy.

“Environment”. That word is actually incorrect. Environments! With plural. They have to live split lives. Their lives are literally split in two. They now have to go up and down from house to house. Now they have to adapt each week to a new environment. They miss the other parent they leave behind. Split birthdays? Split holidays? Having to explain their parents ain’t together? Plus seeing their parents less and less because now they have to pay for 2 houses instead of just one. Their incomes are cut in half, literally. They are more exposed to car wrecks since they have to be in a car more and more while traveling between houses. Their things… they have things on both houses but never all in one place. Clothes… it’s all over the place. Living in literal chaos is better? Plus divorce doesn’t solve the problems of the parents, their arguments, their fights. They still witness that after divorce. Plus ask them what they would prefer. I’m sure they still want their parents to be together and be a single home happy family. Even a not so happy family. It’s their family and the only family they have.

What if the parents NEVER argued infront of their child? Then the father has an affair for two years acting totally normal when he came home? Is this a good male model for a child? Is the mistress a bad role model? Should she be allowed to share time OR a home with the child??!

I am a kid with a divorced mom and dad i think the man in this video is wrong bc when my mom and dad divorced they told us that they dont feel the love anymore but they wil always love us no matter what wil happen and living and edapting in 2 places is very stressfull and very geotic and both places before and after the divorce are bad for the shild and the shild wil forever have a scar then can never heal.
