[Will Japan join the US to defend Taiwan?]

Top Japanese officials have said that Japan should help the US defend Taiwan if China attacks. Is this a new Japanese defense policy? Will Japan’s remarks help deter China from attacking Taiwan? If it appears we try to posture, that's not the impression we want to leave. We genuinely care about the well-being of Taiwan because they're our neighbors. I'm in Okinawa. Right by us are the disputed islands I know Taiwan and Japan both claim but at a time where we have China actually doing all the posturing, unprofessionalism, aggressive use with their maritime craft ramming into other ships. We have common goals live on small islands, and if Taiwan were to be taken Okinawa is right nextdoor and that is too close for Japan to idly stand on by. We came to our senses and said you know, we're right nextdoor let's stop the fooling of ourselves. This is not a right wing thought. We would sacrifice ourselves I understand Dr Wu's stance taking responsibility and not willing to lay that burden on any other nation but his own. That's commendable.
