I'm a student who is currently living in Dresden. My main reason to move here was that it was affordable and has a global high ranked university. It's true the city is really good. I call it my home. It gives you a vibe of a big city as well as a town. The city is also quite international and one thing is, living here you can make double your monthly living expenses as a part-time worker, i.e 1200€ and monthly expenses are 600€

3 out of 5 in Saxony. No surprises there, and really nice video Max! I myself graduated from TUD and Saxony has no match when it comes to balancing expenses and living standards in general.

I am a student and i am currently living in kiel. I would say it is the most underrated student city in Germany. It is the best city for student i would say. With 200-300€ you can easily manage accommodation here(also private accomodation). There are lots of student jobs here, like working in the cruise ships to working in Gastronomie, Supermarkts etc. I have visited almost every city in Germany and have my friends in almost every cities, kiel is the best city for students..people here are also really good and helpful here. You have lots of things to enjoy especially in summer like kieler Woche. Also other beautiful cities like Hamburg, Flensburg, Lübeck etc are very near. The main drawback is, winter is really depressing here guys.😅😅

I did my masters in Gießen. The cities universities together may have 45.000 students, but a pretty high percentage of them are not living in the city. Therefore there is not really much going on in the city for nightlife.
And the proximity to Frankfurt led to rents being fairly high outside official student accommodations. And it's not that easy ro get a room there so there is a high chance you have to rely on the free housing market.

I study in Kiel, the town is super nice! And yes, very affordable, I was able to find a great room at the WG for 225€ a month 🎉

I spent a semester in Gießen, I totally recommend it, it’s super well connected and it has everything you need as student. ❤️

If you want to do something with electrical engineering - especially computer chips/microelectronics, you should definitely go to Dresden. They have by far the best university in this area in Germany wich if more than comparable to universities like MIT in this field. Dresden is the number one chip manufacturer in Europe and now even TSMC is coming and Infineon is right now expanding its factory.

For the students coming to Germany, live in big expensive cities, there you can find jobs and earn money while studying, much better than paying little rent with no jobs

Hello Max,

I am very grateful to have discovered your channel. Your clear and easy-to-understand explanations about Germany are invaluable, especially compared to some other sources that can be less reliable. Thank you so much, Max, for your efforts. Love from India 🇮🇳

Accomodation is choking us in the West. 😢😢 . Not only are the cities here very expensive, but its extremely difficult to see somewhere to stay
