This man is passionate about his boots. Actually, he's passionate about his work and life and it's a beautiful thing to share.

my dad wore these exact boots every day as a butcher. he's long gone, but i still remember his pair of boots sitting under the radiator in the winter, with small puddles forming around from the melt. i'm an electrician and prefer red wings, but i'll never not think of dad when i see moc toe boots.

You are so candid, so honest, so humble, so full of great and practical information.
At your age, you have the energy if a 29 year old, wow!

I have been a General Contractor for fifty three years, and I love your videos, you don’t ramble, you have flawless language command, you explain things better than anybody, and you are teaching so many wonderful, useful techniques and tips, for the younger, and the older generation, you are not going to retire, and take all that awesome experience with you, you are unselfishly sharing it, and gifting it for the benefit of thousands.

That is awesome!!

You are a very special, great man.
I thank you for me, and for all the ones that have watched your videos, but forgot to thank you.

I take massive inspiration from you EC, 80hr work weeks, 6 days a week.
I'm 23 and work 50-60hrs as a tradesman plumber and get beaten down come Friday. Thanks for being a part of my every day, keep up the good work. Happy new year!

This man has wonderful diction and speaks like a college professor not a construction worker.

You are an old school guy and thats exactly why I love your videos. Theres also no mistaking your wisdom in any of your videos. I look forward to every one of them. Whether its felling oaks, pounding iron or discussing boots in detail, your whole demeanor expresses great wisdom. Its obvious you serve the Lord and Im so glad you and your son decided to share your life with us. Im a machinist for a major airline and a diy guy for everything around the house/farm. This is THE channel for me...

I've been wearing Keen hiking shoes for quite a while now and love them. Such great construction; they're waterproof/breathable, have great traction for roofing and I've never slipped once, not even on wet surfaces. I'm thinking it's time for a pair of boots, and I'm glad I caught your video! Boots sure do serve a purpose that shoes just can't handle.

It’s funny how boots are such a personal thing. My first boots were an old hand-me-down pair of Carolina’s my dad gave me when I seriously started in his cabinet shop. Been buying them ever since.
This fella reminds me of my dad. Well-spoken, no nonsense, and to-the-point. Love the videos.

Working in the oilfield for 10 years here; I love my Redwings. You might consider giving the newer styles a whirl. Leather inside with kevlar outside. I have an 8" lace up style with BOA laces. 2 year warranty, but they will service them for as long as you have them. No matter the brand or style of boot, I chuck the factory foot bed and replace it with a good mold-able footbed. I think that boots are more important than any tool you can buy, because they can greatly improve or worsen your quality of life. I really like your videos. You have a lot of really good knowledge to share. Thank you and please keep it up!

My dad who is 77 has always loved the Sears work boots for exactly the same reasons that you mentioned. Particularly the tread pattern that is easy to clean with just enough grip for most tasks.

I learned the same lesson when I began in concrete. I was going through a set of Wally World Brahma boots every six months. The difference is my coworkers wore Carolina logger boots. I still bought Carolinas, but I chose #505 boots with the 8” upper and external Metatarsal guard. Their leather is THICK yet soft and pliable. The Met guard keeps concrete out of my laces. These are by far the most comfortable boot I’ve ever worn. Every few months I scrub them down and re-oil them. First set lasted me five years I’m still on the second set.

Scott, this episode really hit home with me. I have been wearing the same Carolina boot for probably 20 yrs. I also went through the Kmart boots thing till I learned. Also bought Redwings. No more. My boys wear tennis shoes to work, and we laugh at each other. I am old school like you. Great episode.

After all of my years as a construction worker, I never found a boot that would hold up to the type of work I was doing and wear with comfort. The Redwing Mock toe was the best. They stopped making the boot about 3 years before I retired. If I had only known, I would have had those boots re-soled.

I fell bad that Sears is struggling. It's such a great store with great history and products

Extra work boots are always needed at Men's shelters, can make the difference between someone getting work or not.

I've got red wings that have served me pretty well for the past 3 years, I've had no issue with them. Best $275 I ever spent

There is something about a moc toe boot that just says"work boot" to me. My dad wears them and as do I as a framing carpenter. The redwings are expensive but they last. The soles on mine are very sticky up on roof sheeting as well
